Deus Ex: Human Revolution is really hard?

It's not hard at all, it just demands patience. I never actually went for full stealth run, but there are persons that did full stealth (not noticed ever) and without upgrades. Bosses not withstanding obviously. Now that is hard and challenging.

If you use gun, tazer and fists to disable people, it's pretty much cakewalk. Especially when you upgrade yourself.

The first 10 minutes are frustrating as hell, because you haven't gotten augmented yet. After my first playthrough, I honestly thought that was a conscious design decision. Since everything in the game is related to the practical and ethical challenges with trans-human augmentation, they made you really fragile in the beginning to contrast your power level as a regular human with your power level as an augmented human.
This could just be me over-interpreting things, but it does make sense to me at least :V

But no, it's not that hard. It is a relatively challenging game unless you're playing on the lowest difficulty, but if you take it slowly, the missions aren't that hard to get through. The bosses can go fuck themselves though.

The boss fights are a *****, especially the third one!

You can kill all three bosses without firing a single weapon, you don't get an achievement or anything extra for doing it though.

No it's not hard the hardest moment I had in the game was saving a particular (non spoiler) character that was hard but once I upgraded to the Typhoon I keep spamming it on more difficult enemies.

So, I've started playing Deus Ex:HR. Im 10 minutes In, and its ridiculous. I'm on Normal difficulty and it's so hard. As soon as I leave cover I get eaten. Am I the only one that thinks this game is hard? Or is it just me being really crap? Interested to hear about other peoples experiences. I think I'd really like the game, but it's just so damn tedious dying all the time.

Don't get discouraged. You'll adapt to its play mechanics soon enough. And it does get easier after that first level too, so take heart. If you're really struggling, feel free to turn the difficulty down if you wish or if you're still running into brick walls.

Think of it as a stealth-oriented game like Metal Gear Solid, Splinter Cell or Alpha Protocol with a first-person perspective as opposed to a traditional FPS. While straight firefights are technically an option, that is also the path of most resistance in Deus Ex; Jensen has the life meter of a Diglett, so don't count on getting very far by treating this game as if it were a two-fisted shoot-'em-up like Painkiller or Serious Sam. The best course of action is to not engage the enemy at all in the first place and to pick them off one by one and dump the bodies somewhere out of the way if you must. Discretion is the better part of valor and all that.

Dont remember much about the first level. But be stealthy, take your time and use the environment to your advantage - levels are not linear and some have ladders or tunnels to get around characters. Do you have the traq gun at the start? If so use that, stealth and you can knock all enemies down with one hit in the head. If that gun isnt avaliable, again just take your time, take advantage of stealth killing.

Stick with it though because once you get to the main game you have tons of freedom. Better mission areas and lots more weapons and upgrades to make you alot better. The start was annoying to begin with. But when i replayed in on hard mode, full stealth and not setting off any alarms - it really wasnt that hard.
