I am all aboard the concept, but this looked like that terrible Halo fan film. Give me a good plot! not just copying "gameplay"

Noone commented yet on the "coincidence" that the guy behind this is named Charif?

All kidding aside, I am very impressed by this short film so far.

I hate these fan projects. They are either simply bad or incredibly pretentious. And they are always, always unnecessary because they just copy everything that was in the game exactly how it was. It's like watching let's play with prettier graphics. No substance whatsoever. Just special effects and action scenes. They're like shittier versions of Hollywood attempts.
The problem I have with them is just the uninspired visuals. From a cinematography standpoint it really looks no different than your average soda commercial. The lighting is flat and the camera angles are lifeless. The shot where the dude gets thrown through the wall in slow motion looks utterly horrendous.

I can feel the chunks rising in my throat by what I'm about to say, but even Micheal Bay movies have more cinematic class than this. The distressed porn star with the breast emphasizing boob strap almost made me think I was watching a Bay movie though, so I guess the fan film community is slowly getting closer to Hollywood quality.

Now I'm depressed the whole film is only 13 minutes long. This could work on a full-length scale, but understandably it's probably too expensive to make.

It... Doesn't look too good. Granted it is just a teaser trailer, but this didn't do anything to show off scenery, just a bunch of white walls, nothing having to do with plot, or really much of anything. I'm hoping it turns out to be much better than this was.
