I have a distinct feeling I won't be able to run this game since I'm still chugging along with an HD6970 video card. Bloody hell I didn't want to have to upgrade my GPU yet but I guess there's bugger all choice.

I hope they aren't breaking it up because I don't think I can wait another 4 years for more of it, haha. I think maybe one of the mentioned Story DLC's will add to it... unless they are going to force another replay because they are someplace in the middle of the game. That would be a dirty trick.
that thing you just said is literally parceling off the crucial part of a story and selling it as an add-on, so basically now you've positioned their theoretical ransoming as mercy

The real question: Is super-cyborg Adam Jensen still so squishy that an overweight old man with a 10mm. is a legitimate threat?
If so, then there is no choice. If you leave cover to punch some skulls in you die. You have to play stealth and be miserable because you're playing stealth.

I haven't played much, but I can run the game with my GT755M. Some quick googling reveals that it's quite the bit crappier than the HD6970.

There was a benchmark feature and that ran like absolute butts, giving me an average FPS of 19. But I started the game with the settings on mostly Low and I was running around and shooting bullets just fine. No idea what it will be like when I actually meet enemies and get into gunfights. And of course the game looks pretty shit as a result.

I'll see how it goes when I actually get some hours into the game.

When I was a child I was happy when I got knights of the old republic running at 15 FPS. I thought 24 was "good". Oh forgive me PC master race.

Well, that's interesting to know. Thank you for that :)

I put 4 hours into the game. It is playable, with some tolerance. I'll probably lower the resolution next time I play. It's not the smoothest of experiences. Most notably conversations are sorta... sluggish and it feels like the body animations desync from the speech. They finish talking but the bodies continue miming out a bunch of shrugs and actions with no dialogue and it makes for a surreal experience. There was also a non playable sequence where you walk through a place and talk to some person, and various background characters would visibly just spawn in and I'd walk through them. Made for a goofy scene.

Combat does feel a bit twitchy and unresponsive, though I heard there's some mouse acceleration nonsense to blame.

So well, you can totally go below the minimum specs given(at least down to the GT755M). It's just not the most quality experience.

I'll just put up with it cause I don't plan on getting a new machine for at least another year.

What? First of all Deus Ex has always encouraged some discretion (and the newer games your only melee attack is the takedown anyway), so if you are looking to play like a fallout NV melee build you might be barking up the wrong tree. OTOH if you grab the right augs and play with the least bit of tactical sense you can shoot your way through most encounters without ever bothering with stealth. But that was true of the first game which I beat on hard while neglecting stealth outside of moments where I felt it would have story consequences (i.e, I wasn't gonna go rambo in the police station).

I have played and finished my first time through, the ending does feel a tad empty. But given that this game is now trying to match up to a 16 year old game in terms of canon, because you know the fanbase will raise holy hell if they mess it up, I actually don't mind the DLC they are doing.

From what I can tell, it will answer one of two questions, [SPOILER #1] which you uncover once you get to spend the PRAXIS, and [SPOILER #2] which you can find at the end cutscenes (this is a cheat because there are two options here) because of the aforementioned canon-welding they will have to do.

But yeah, I don't think this DLC will be too bad of a thing, but I would like to strangle the person who let you buy PRAXIS irl, for Adam as an idea into this game.

The game definitely has flaws but this is a series that had Invisible War so it's DEFINITELY not the worst of the series, I do miss some of the locations from Human Revolution like Hengshaw, the visuals there were amazing and I loved how it mixed grungy cyberpunk with gleaming futurism. Prague, though nice, isn't as interesting.

I agree, I really miss the setting of Human Revolution. Although not as beautiful looking as this game, it had a style that I loved. I suppose this is more fitting with a dirtier looking world, but I miss those gold gleams.

I'm about 20 hours in, I do so enjoy looking into every nook and crevice, and I can safely say I have already felt it's money well spent. Wish it was optimized better and the random shoulder shrugs are a bit weird, but damnit Jenson, I wish I was as cool as you. lol

Now if only it didn't unlock at 18:00 CEST on Steam. Last time I had to endure this crap was with Mass Effect 3 release, all hail the glorious DRM!
Oh trust me sequel bait is in FULL effect here there is a major question from the start of the game which you dive through several side missions spread along the plot trying to answer only to come up with we don't know so we'll keep looking as an answer

Giving my 2 cents anyway.

I'm loving Prague Subway Simulator 2029 so far, and I didn't mind HR's bleak ending(s), so we'll see. Although it certainly doesn't have the "wow factor" so I'm not devoting every minute of my freetime to it as I usually do with the few day 1 purchases I make every year (The Witcher 3 ruined gaming, shame on you CDPR), but I sill love reading e-mails and beating up people for their poor IT security choices.
