Dammit, the story of the augmented being discriminated against before the events of the first Deus Ex would have been perfect.

BOOOOOOO! BOOOOOOO! Get off the stage!

Deus Ex: The Fall is set in 2027- a golden era for science, technology and human augmentation, but also a time of great social divide and global conspiracy. Powerful corporations have seized control from governments and command the drug supply needed by augmented humans to survive. In this chaos [b/]Ben Saxon, a former British SAS Mercenary who underwent physical augmentation, is desperate for the truth behind the drug conspiracy. Betrayed by his private military employers, the Tyrants, not only is his own life at risk, but for all augmented humans, time is running out...[/b]

Note: Bolded part of this quote is half the plot of the Deus Ex novel [i/]Icarus Effect[/i]. So not only is this a mobile game, it's a possibility it's a retread of existing story...

...That was disappointing, as I don't have an IDevice. Regardless, I can't imagine that this game would be outright bad. Eidos Montreal made a good Deus Ex game and I'm sure they can do it again.

Yeeaaahhh....
Can we have that retro style one back?
I actually thought that would be pretty cool.

Am I seriously the only person who was thinking "Awesome, a modern action game that looks well adapted to the iPad that -isn't- Dead Space mobile! for once. Sure I might not have an iPad but it's still a stride further for unified games!" when they read about this. I mean it, it looks awesome to me regardless.

Well, the only update I've received from this story is that it's on Android in addition to crApple.
Still changes nothing for me since I don't own any Android or crApple products.

But I am just going to speculate that Squeenix mandated it on mobile because they'd rather drink bleach by the gallon than release a game on PC as a primary platform (instead of a port).

I speculate this because the current consoles are at the end of their cycle and lacking the certainty of a solid new platform to begin development on, they just dodged the remaining primary market (PC) entirely and went to mobile for a quick buck.

Huh.. mobile.

Well that completely burst my interest bubble. Maybe next time there will be a full fledged game.

Eh, I reserve my criticism for the results. If they succeed, all the better.

Oh god, what shit. Here I thought we could get a follow up to a fantastic game and we are stuck with a shitty mobile version of a game. Listen, everyone can say what they want about the future of Mobile gaming. I'm all for good mobile titles, but in order for that to happen, making games using really lousy touch screen controls has to stop. I can't wait to die because of shitty controls in that game. No thanks. It's not going to be worth 7 cents, let alone $7.

And here i thought i was the only one who noticed. at the very least they aren't re-using a story for a full PC release Deus Ex game.

The game is supposed to pick up from where the book left off.

As to the actual game, I get what they're trying to do but I don't think they should have just basically copied DE:HR and essentially shrink it down for mobile platforms. I mean, Kudos for them for making it look (from the video) good and I wouldn't have imagined it possible a few years ago but they still haven't solved the control issue. Putting touch controls with essentially PC/Console games had been proven time and again that it doesn't work. I respect that they're putting an entirely new story but they should've made something that actually suit the platform they're working with.

Ah, i didn't realize it was a continuation, that could be kind of interesting. just a shame its on mobile devices which doesn't really suit games like this very well since there are no physical controls, and i find the virtual stuff to be imprecise as all hell.

If my experience with Dead Space, Mass Effect, and Modern Combat are anything to go by, it's really fucking difficult to play "real" games using the touchscreen. We'll see if they have a demo or a "free" version with the first level or something, I'm not going to pretend it doesn't exist.

And, as per standard, Android devices will receive the game in the year it is set. Seriously, Android devices must outnumber iPhone by a ridiculous factor by now, and we still get last pick in mobile releases? Am I missing something? Some key sales statistic that makes Android a poor place to sell games?
