It seems Alan Wake developer, Remedy, is NOT complaining about PC piracy following the release of their suspense-horror-action game earlier this week. To those who intend to pirate the game, Remedy only says; "Enjoy the Story!" Link to the article below:

I think it's a good stance, not only are people going to be more receptive to new games from this developer because they aren't blaming piracy for their game being shitty and not selling (not that I'm saying Alan Wake is shit.) they actually see game pirates as nothing more than potential fans that will provide future returns to their company if they happen to like the game.

Let's face it, good franchises get milked in more ways than one. People complaining about Piracy killing their profits are stupid for saying so when they release hundreds of other damn products based on a popular franchise (Halo comes to mind as I look at my Mega Bloks Pelican Dropship and Master Chief action figure that are sitting on my shelf across the room, yeah I'm a nerd.) Think of all the toys, books, posters, and other crap people will buy if they like your franchise, you can't pirate those, not legit collectible ones! That's not even counting the few pirates that will buy the game later on, just because they liked it (or because they want to give some major props to Remedy for not being dicks), and maybe actually purchase the sequels.

I work in sales and I know that even if someone walks into the store I work in and doesn't make a purchase, wastes an hour of my time and leaves empty handed, the rapport I had with that customer is worth a lot more than if he had come in, bought something quickly and walked out again. Because now that customer knows my name and hopefully likes me enough and trusts me enough to buy from me and not some other sales guy they don't know. I haven't played Alan Wake yet, but I know that if I do, I'm not downloading it illegally. I have a lot of respect for Remedy as a developer.

What do the rest of you guys here at The Escapist think?

I think if they had released the game on PC originally like they were going to and not cut down on content then yeah, I would support them...
What the hell is this?
You're upset that they released the game on PC after announcing that they had cancelled it... and that they included all of the DLC for free, that the Xbox owners (like me) had to pay for?

They abandoned PC Gaming... by releasing a PC Version with more free content?

Congratulations: you're the reason we can't have nice things.

But no, they went with MS and abandoned PC gaming and sold off Max Payne too.

I'll wait for the summer sale to "support" them.

I do like remedy but it's like they were happy ignoring PC gaming and now are coming back as if nothing happened. I'll wait to see what else they do before I start praising them.
Well you see, they begged Microsoft to actually get to make a PC version long after the fact. Yes it's 2 years later and some people are obviously angry, but it shows some dedication to their fans that even after all this time they still badgered Microsoft to do it.

Just read this article for yourself and you'll see.
