It seems Alan Wake developer, Remedy, is NOT complaining about PC piracy following the release of their suspense-horror-action game earlier this week. To those who intend to pirate the game, Remedy only says; "Enjoy the Story!" Link to the article below:

I think it's a good stance, not only are people going to be more receptive to new games from this developer because they aren't blaming piracy for their game being shitty and not selling (not that I'm saying Alan Wake is shit.) they actually see game pirates as nothing more than potential fans that will provide future returns to their company if they happen to like the game.
Let's face it, good franchises get milked in more ways than one. People complaining about Piracy killing their profits are stupid for saying so when they release hundreds of other damn products based on a popular franchise (Halo comes to mind as I look at my Mega Bloks Pelican Dropship and Master Chief action figure that are sitting on my shelf across the room, yeah I'm a nerd.) Think of all the toys, books, posters, and other crap people will buy if they like your franchise, you can't pirate those, not legit collectible ones! That's not even counting the few pirates that will buy the game later on, just because they liked it (or because they want to give some major props to Remedy for not being dicks), and maybe actually purchase the sequels.
I work in sales and I know that even if someone walks into the store I work in and doesn't make a purchase, wastes an hour of my time and leaves empty handed, the rapport I had with that customer is worth a lot more than if he had come in, bought something quickly and walked out again. Because now that customer knows my name and hopefully likes me enough and trusts me enough to buy from me and not some other sales guy they don't know. I haven't played Alan Wake yet, but I know that if I do, I'm not downloading it illegally. I have a lot of respect for Remedy as a developer.
What do the rest of you guys here at The Escapist think?
