For example, whenever you see an interview with a developer making a sequel to a much-beloved game, they always say "we want to EXPAND the universe" whilst flailing their hands about like they're holding a massive ball between them.
Reboots always want to be "faithful" or "loyal" to the original. "Realism" "Sandbox" "Much darker/grittier" are buzzwords thrown about.
