Why would they do this? Every one of the games were terrible and could have been way better. They ruined it by dumbing it down for the FILTHY casuals right off the bat. They completely ruined the feeling of being a character who is relatively fragile compared to these giant denizens of hell, but is skilled enough to think tactically during battle when to dodge, how to manage crowds of various enemy types and pull off sick S rank combos to make up for my shortcomings as a half-human. The game was made to make you feel like a BAMF professional Demon Hunter because of your skill, compared to these incredibly powerful enemies. Dante's not cocky because he's got better powers than the demons he's fighting, he's cocky because he knows that no matter how tough the enemy, he can figure out a way to defeat them, either through having more fighting skill or through wits. Having the game-play seem like you're just a super powerful demon who gets knocked over out of a combo but it doesn't really matter because even if he's ungraceful he still can't be stopped ruins the atmosphere and core of the game.

By lowering the damage you take in Human mode, it makes it so some people didn't have to S rank every combo, they just had to take advantage of some of the combos, and the game game them a few extra chances to get hit. WHY WOULD THEY DO THAT? Why can't other players play this game as well as I can, and play on Hell and Hell mode in DMC 4? Not to mention they probably lowered the enemy variety and count on screen just so the players on Human or even Normal won't feel too overwhelmed. What has gaming come to when developers ruin entire games just because they want the thing they worked so hard on to be experienced by as many people as possible because that's what entertainers live for?

I know you were making this in an attempt to be "amusing" or even attempting to mock what folk have said about the new DMC.

At least, I hope you were.

The only problem is, that was about as amusing as knocking my own teeth down my throat and shitting out a pair of dentures.

Nope, was mocking a completely different game series entirely, that seems to have caused a lot of controversy over the mention of the possibilty of a mode "for the f*cking casuals." I'm personally enjoying the new DMC, I just used a franchise that I considered the old games were mostly defined by their difficulty. I didn't even think about the DMC hate threads going on right now when I created this. Thanks for coming, though.

I am just going through DMC 2 atm seeing as I never finished that one (it got stolen) or 4 (didnt like what I played) and its pretty fun no where near as epic as the original DMC and it also falls short of three but its not that bad I am actually enjoying playing as Lucia throwing knives are so much more badass than guns at least it feels like it for me, shame she has been sidelined she is probably my favourite female in the series.

As for the new DMC I cant believe people havent said anything about Dantes redesign :) I dont know much about the new one it looks good and all and its just the thing to reignite my interest in a series that waned in DMC2 and died with DMC4, I loved the first game must have finished it 20 odd times but never on Dante must Die mode damn that was tough as for 3 well it was ok but I was glad when it was over tbh.

Anyway when I get some time and the price goes down I will snap the new one up I doubt it will be better than the original but it may be second best (or I could hate it, will have to see)

I dont know why they took the series away from the team that essentially became platinum games in the first place they made the first game and then Capcom gave it to another director and team after wtf oh well at least platinum eventually came into being and a spiritual successor to the original DMC was made in Bayonetta. Actually thats a point Capcom outsource the next DMC to platinum games they know how to make a great action game.

Then why not just post in one of the existing Dark Souls threads on that subject?

I mispoke in a previous incarnation of the comment. It's because it's fun seeing how people interpret a rant. While the point of the main rant was to rag on Dark Souls, I also enjoy reading opinions the devil may cry games in general, because I found them fun, so the DMC hate thread also didn't suffice. So....yeah.

I know right? Not to mention Nero is easy mode, I mean one weapon and grappling? That takes all the challenge out of it! Not to mention the quick time events during bosses that take out large chunks of health, they shouldn't casualize the games like that! One weapon, one gun and no styles that is lame. DMC is suppose to be punishing and separate the hardcore (read: patient, repetitive no-lives) between the casuals (read: people who don't play the same game for 50 hours a day and suck). DmC is just going another step further as Capcom is trying to get into the CoD crowd and appeal to 12 year olds who think swearing and killing babies is cool. Everyone knows the only true DMC game is the original since that's the only one made by Kamiya and it's much more difficult than the previous games because of the bad camera and BS railshooter sections. That's true difficulty.

>Takes several scythe blades stabbed into his body. Arm, leg, middle of the chest
>Pulls the blade out of his chest and uses it as a projectile
>Uses the blade in his arm and leg as his own weapons without removing them

>Finds Alastor
>Gets impaled and pinned to the floor
>Pulls self up off Alastor while it's still in the ground
>Pulls Alastor out of the ground and takes a few practice swings

Dante's fragile?

Devil may cry 3 was harsh but it was certainly a fair game. You could clear the game up to dante must die mode just by having a novice understanding of enemy attacks and equipping royal guard or trickster. The reason it appealed to hardcore gamers is that you could do quite a bit more with it because the combat was so top-notch. Clearing a game wasn't the "hard core part" it was the difficulty made available and the mechanics that allow you to jump cancel/weapon swap cancel. These were things you wouldn't need to clear any difficulty of the game.
As for the only true dmc game being the original, I would argue that 3 was its successor, but the series would have gone farther if Kamiya had been in charge of developing it.
It's also worth mentioning that dmc3se was re-tuned for casual players, which I can forgive because I enjoyed jump canceling with yamato immensely.
Edit: I should probably mention that I'm aware that this is a joke, but in the hope that some day I might see a successor to devil may cry 3 I feel obligated to clarify.=(

Platinum games taking devil may cry and doing what they want with it would be a dream come true. Perhaps Un-booting the franchise? If capcom believes un-booting it would be more profitable and they went ahead and did so, would they be the first?
