Wow, wow, dude, hold on...

This game is a some kind of "prequel" right? Then why thafuck are they changing the hole thing?

Serious, why Ninja Theory keeps fucking with game characters? We all know this is not the first time this kind of thing happen
I don't believe its advertised as a prequel, I was under the impression it was a full-on reboot of the story.

This one DOES take place earlier in Dantes life than any of the others though, but you cant put it in the same timeline as all the others.

Don't try. it just hurts. you "may cry" haw haw haw haw haw.

WHAT???!?!

That's seriously crossing it. No way, can they change someone's character like that especially the genetics of being half demon and HALF ANGEL. Oh man, this is going to really tick off the true fans of DMC and I am one of them... *sigh*. Why? Why would they do this to us??
The first thing that came to my mind with that was Little Nicky with Adam Sandler XD

The game doesn't look bad, story seems fine. Gameplay looks great, I still hate the new "Dante", but as a game it doesn't look bad.

In the words of Jester from Devil May Cry

WELCOME TO HELL!!
That guy was a true badass.
No words can explain my anger, so a guitar solo will work
[sub]Ok, maybe thats not angry, but it will explain my ferocity playing through the game.[/sub]

To those curious, it has been confirmed my Mr. Antoniades himself that the game does not take place in the same canon as the other games. I can't remember precisely where I've seen this, but I know it's out there. I'm pretty sure it was from a video.

Ok I can live with point 1 as maybe given the back story that the weapon eventually finds ita "true" form as Dante's Rebellion in the game but I don't think that will happen. I was also on board with the tone change and the new look as it is a Genesis story but the Angel thing and Devil Trigger are getting on my tits.

The Angel thing completely changes the current story of the series with Sparda marrying a human woman and the Devil Trigger thing also goes against the story and just sounds ridiculous. The point with it is you get a boost to stats not Matrix mode.

For christ sakes does everyone just slide over and not read? Okay, here's the gist of what I've figured from countless interviews and gameplay.

1 - Capcom went to Ninja Theory for; not a reboot, not a remake; but a re-imagining of the franchise. They both have specifically said the story and gameplay are both non-canon and have no intentions of tying it into the original plot.

2 - Gameplay - See 1.

At least it's still the same genre. Imagine how us X-Com fans feel :(
Not sure what X-Com is (BURN ME AT THE STAKE)
but you mind emphasizing the drastic Genre shift?
It used to be an isometric turn based strategy game set in the near future with monster-like aliens.

Now it's a first person shooter, set in the 60s with aliens that look nothing like the original aliens.
So its pre-war Fallout? =P

I just like how Capcom said to Ninja Theory "here is every bit of information on the Devil May Cry franchise" and NT threw it in the bin (with all the remaining copies of Enslaved .. yes i'm digging at you NT) and said "we won't be needing that".

This isn't a *re-boot* it isn't a *prequel* it's an entirely different game.

If you take everything the fans loved about DMC, set it on fire, piss on it, eat whats left and wait for it to come out the other end ..... you will then have Ninja Theory's concept for the new DMC game.

Then again, this may just be a biased way of looking at things because I whole heartedly believe Tameem Antoniades is a giant walking penis.

....Holy shit, they FINALLY told us what the story for this fucking game is? Color me surprised!

In short, the adventures of Angry Kevin here are off my buying list.

Well, after reading this, that basically puts the nail in the coffin. What made them think so many changes from the series would be beneficial? At this point, it doesn't even remotely look or sound like a DmC game. Just pitiful.

So glad the Dante they choose for MVC3 was the Dante from DMC3. Cause it would be so shitty if they chose this peace of garbage.

I'm well aware of that fact, but for Dawkin's sake I don't believe alot of fans would welcome such a change in gameplay.
I could care less about the look and I like the story idea, but the concept of playing as Little Nicky mixed with Neo disturbs me ever so.

Its like if Bayonetta and Dantes Inferno had an ugly baby and handed it to Ninja Theory

My reaction to the devil trigger thingy: in b4 infinite air combos.
No seriously if you search around youtube for a bit you'd be amazed how much time and effort some dmc fans put into ultra-hard gamebreaking combo's. Personally I don't get it. Sure it can be pretty hard to beat (looking at you, dmc3) but you don't need to go THAT far. It's just single player right?
And if you don't need to beat the game, what would you use them for? Impressing your little brother or something?

It's not much of a change in gameplay, though. It's just more focused on aerial combat; and who's to say that's necessarily a bad thing? Sounds friggin' awesome to me. The Devil Trigger is actually useful here, when before all it did was increase damage. Besides, he doesn't actually look that bad. If the game wasn't called Devil May Cry, and the character didn't call himself Dante, the outcry wouldn't be nearly as bad, and that's always what is going to baffle me.

[HEADING=2]Aneurysm #1: The Weapon[/HEADING]

Dante no longer has Rebellion, nor is there any hint that he will be getting it any time soon. The sword that basically made Dante an Icon along with Alastor and Force Edge is gone and hereby replaced with a

Shape Shifting Scythe with Grappling abilities.
Your not a fan of DMC, because you wasn't paying attention.

The weapon he's wielding is called the Sparda, named after his father, otherwise known as the Force Edge, at full power it can shape shift.

http://devilmaycry.wikia.com/wiki/Sparda_(Force_Edge)
Sparda also took the Perfect Amulet, causing the sword's own natural powers to fall asleep and become the Force Edge. When awakened, it has the uncanny ability to shift forms, from sword to spear to scythe. The Sparda changes into a spear when using Stinger or Million Stab, and it changes to a scythe when using Round Trip.
DmC stays true to the canon.

Your saying that your a massive fan but you don't know about the most hardcore weapon in the game?.

If you want combo's play Devil May Cry 3
If you want Ariel battle's, play Devil May Cry 4

If you want a good story with a deep character, go play another game, Dante is embarrassing.

This re-imagining of DMC is like rebooting Halo and making Master chief a gardener and replacing the covenant with potted plants. It's just pants on head retarded.

Have they even said that the game is in canon with the other games? I think the game is going to be fine. As for the change of Dante being half-demon half-angel isn't a big problem. They never said that he wasn't.

Half Demon Half Angel, it sounds like a fanfiction.
Speaking as someone who has spent some time wading through that cesspool, yes. Hybrids...fucking hybrids. HALF HUMAN HALF DEMON HALF TOMATO CUCUMBER JELLY SANDWICH WITH THE POWER TO CONTROL ALL THINGS THAT ARE THE COLOR PURPLE!!! Or something at least approaching that level of stupid is fairly common in the DMC fan fic community.

Alright then Mr. High and Mighty.
First off Dante doesn't wield Sparda until he unlocks its power when he's a grown man.
Secondly I know full fucking well all what Sparda's Sword does. I've played DMC 1.
I say this is a problem because Dante received Rebellion at birth and proceeded to use it his youth.
This Scythe goes from heavenly to hellish.
Spardas sword was just a demon sword. Nothing Holy about it.

So next time you try and call me out, READ DAMMIT
