What kind of video card do you have? That software it told you to install is DirectDraw.

I'm unfamiliar with Windows 7. Can you run it in compatibility mode/maybe with 8 bit colors?

The compatibility mode is for Win98
it is being run in 256 colors
it is being run in 640X480 res
and as an admin

I never had this problem on Windows 7. Could be something wrong with your graphical card. Perhaps you should update your drivers? Try to run it in XP SP 2.

I just tried running it on Windows 7 (Thanks for the nostalgia!), use the compatibility wizard, got mine working.

hey i also got a problem i played d2 exp with windows 7 ultimate 64 bit then i fucked my comp by doing some stuff anyway i deleted whole windows 7 and reinstalled again the same version and now i can't even enter my diablo2 game anymore anyone might know what i can do about this?

I had the same problem and I went to the Blizzard website and downloaded the patch and updated and now it seems to work. http://ftp.blizzard.com/pub/diablo2exp/patches/PC/LODPatch_113c.exe
