I recently tried to play Diablo 2 to get some practice for an upcoming LAN party. However, I couldn't even launch the game because my PC couldn't find the .exe file. Undaunted, I deleted all my D2 files that i had and reinstalled it. Then I found out I couldn't install Lord of Destruction because an error message popped up saying I had to have D2 installed, which I did two minutes ago, and the original .exe file was missing again so I couldn't even launch the original.
So now I've uninstalled it again and have no idea how to get it working. Blizzard Support doesn't help, but then it's never helped me.

Any help people can provide is always useful.

EDIT: My computer also deleted my saved games for some retarded reason.

Uninstall it with the uninstall feature. Installing adds registry entries; things that cannot be removed by any but the nerdiest of computer nerds.

If that fails, use the Add/Remove Hardware feature located in the Control Panel and remove D2 from there.

After all that, reinstall D2 again.

As for the save files, you probably deleted them yourself by accident. They're almost always saved in the Program Files.

why don't you get a no cd patch? they require that you replace the .exe file anyway? that way you also don't have to use the cd!

The "friendliest nerds of computer nerds" have made a program that does this for you.
