Can anyone verify this?

I just stumbled on it but it appears Diablo 3 will have a hardcore mode. I don't know any other details other than if you die, that's it. Game over, all your progress, gear, etc will be gone. Is this for real?

Well seeing as most ARPGs (including other Diablos) have this mode I don't see why it wouldn't.

Awesome. Of course, it isn't balanced around permadeath, so this is mostly interesting as a gimmick.

Besides, why would ActiBlizzion not let you spend more money on their games?

Yeah it's legit and I read somewhere that under this mode you cannot use the auction house at all. That make sense seeing that if you bought or carrying some rare loots and you suddently get killed, you will rage at the lost of your loots.

It's true of course, it was in Diablo 2. No RMT auction house is also great.

And i'd consider playing D3 because of that, but the WoW-influenced art style and lackluster storytelling still put me off.

You can't use the RMAH for Hardcore in the beta, but as far as I'm aware there's no such restrictions planned for the live version.

Hardcore players can only use the in game currency auction house and not the real money auction house for this very reason.

Yea, I'm in the beta, I have a Hardcore character, so yes it is verified. Why is this a thing? I mean, is it strange that Diablo III has a feature that Diablo II also had, as well as several other ARPGS have had over the years?

Only if you were stupid enough to spend real money on a hardcore character, it's not like it's the only option. If you don't want to lose money don't spend it on a character that will in all likelihood end up dead at some point.
