Just wondering if anyone out there can clue me in one how multiplayer works in Diablo 3. I've picked up the game and am in an odd situation. A friend wants help with a certain boss and I've progressed up to that boss solo. We won't be able to play together for a couple of days and I'd like to at least try the boss out to get some experience with it, if not continue playing my character through the game until we can play together. Of course, I don't want to do any of this if it means I won't be able to do the fight with my friend because I've either progressed too far in level to join her game or if me beating the boss and finishing that quest means I won't be able to do in in her game as well.

And so, the questions:

What is the allowed level difference between characters? I've heard that a high level character can't just pop into a low level's game and one shot everything for them, but what is the actual accepted range?

Is quest progress and all of that tied to a certain players progress? If I beat a boss in my game and then join a friend in theirs, can I help them beat that boss on their game as well or will that not work because it's already dead for me?

First off, you can go back to any quest you've previously done and redo via the "Change Quest" option in the menu. When you join your friends game, it should put you on his or her quest. Also, I almost positive that anyone can join anyone's game regardless of level. When I first got Diablo my level 44 friend joined in on my game while I was only level 4.

You can join other players games freely, regardless of whether you've progressed to the area they're on, or whether you're way ahead of them on your other game. My level 6 friend joined us in Act II, for instance. There's no level difference. Mobs scale up in strength as new players join, but I BELIEVE their level is determined by the guy who made the game. A level 60 joining a level 5's game won't suddenly make everything level 60.

Long story short, there won't be any issues, and you'll be able to help your friend.
