30+ minutes in still not in, Launch = Failure.

*edit to 1 hour and 40 minutes last night to get in.

Would be slightly bearable if there was a queue system. The "just try logging in again in a minute" system is ridiculous.

They really new about this problem and choose to ignore it instead of creating a queue system for the login server.

It so awesome they choose this game to be online only. If there was an offline mode there would be no error 37

Seriously?
You didn't expect a busy log-in server on release night?

No matter what kind of server you build, if this many people log in at the same time, it's going to slow down significantly.

That's not a failure, that's the expected, and unavoidable, result of a stream of fans logging in at the same time. Try it again in an hour or two. Surely you have the patience to wait a bit.

All the haters need to STFU!!! Blizzard knew exactly what they were getting into. They know what the hell they are dong. Give them some f'in credit. If you can't handle that, turn your copy back in and get your money back. Plain and simple. Don't buy a copy of a game then whine and moan that you can't play it the minute the online servers go live. It doesn't work that way. D3 was a WORLDWIDE SIMULTANEOUS RELEASE!!! This means in ALL the markets that Blizz operates have access to the servers. Any server that is allocated to the game is going to see hundred of thousands of users logging on at once. Server busy errors are going to happen. DEAL WITH IT!!!

This was a very highly anticipated game and they wanted enjoyment for all, instead of doing staggered releases for it. It wouldn't be fair for one country to be able to play it first, especially with a game as huge as D3.

As far as load balancing the servers, to be able to balance something, you have to find out the extremes. In the article, Blizz was calling for login delays to control the flow. If the servers crashed at launch, D3 would be DOA and Blizz would have a huge amount of egg on the face, a major quarterly loss, followed my mass layoffs.

A lot of us gamers are currently unemployed. I myself have been without a job since last Nov. On my system, I have no shortage of alternate games I can play. I'll wait a few days for them to get the kinks out. Launch day is just asking too much.

(For any of those I have offended, grow a backbone will ya!)

15-20 minutes no problem, they done it before without a hitch several times, but they knew they had a problem weeks ago and ignore it.

What I think of D3 so far? horrible. took me 20 mins to get to the hero list, took me 10 mins to try and create a hero only for it to completely fail, and I listen to my friends and try to reconnect to only not even be able to login.

Why is there NO login queue? what idiot thought that the "error 37" would be enough"

No shit the servers are going to busy, but when they knew this was going to happen they should of put in a login queue, at least with that your fingers don't get tired from copy and pasting your damn password, and you know roughly how long it will take to get in

For one...this is wrong. European servers were up well before American servers. And Asian servers well before Euro servers.

For two, I had to wait an extra 2 hours to play a game than I should've had to anyways, because always online had to be a thing. And even at that point I still can't play.

This is an MMO launch. And a poor one thusfar at that.

If a free to play game in LoL can have a login queue, what's stopping Blizzard from giving D3 one?

its really simple, this is why they had a stress test weekend. They thought they were screwed before the stress test, and it just gave them 100% confirmation that they wouldn't be able to handle it, so they haven't even tried :)

I think it's "cute" that the battle.net website is "currently down for maintenance to improve your browsing experience too." Guess they figured they duck the hate mail too lol

shock and surprise, their stupid server requirement is already screwing with customers.

"stop expecting a game you pay for just to give you access when it's released, you entitled crybaby!"

It's amazing to me how big publishers get customers to just accept getting fucked up the ass, making consumers adjust to their demands for an auction house they get a cut from, and forcing servers and accounts even to play a single player game.

Just Keep paying for this garbage and continuing to encourage these companies to make things more inconvenient for you.

Of course.

Because after a few hours, the whole issue resolves it's self.
Why invest in some hypothetical "super-Server" when after a few hours the log-in rush has died down and the normal server can run normally.

They knew about the problem, yes, and they offered some way to ease the log in.

They didn't ignore it.

But they're smart enough to know this issue is non-existent after a few hours.

There are ways to handle the launch of a game and there are ways to absolutely ham fist it. Congrats Blizzard, thankfully it's a giant title and you can recover. In the mean time, I can't help but laugh at how incredibly foolish you look right now.

Apparently they took the website down and added more servers to accommodate the increased log-in rates. It still didn't help too much =[

I'm SO pissed that I can't play this with my two brothers who also bought the game. Because the game FORCES you to log onto a server, I can't play. There is NO REASON we couldn't have just had a single player/LAN feature in the game and already been playing. Such a feature would have also meant that a LOT of people wouldn't be logging into the server. Duh.

I seriously just do not get the whole manditory online thing and, more importantly, why the hell everyone just swallows it. I absolutely love Blizzard and their games but this feels like such a step backward to me. I mean, when Diablo 2 came out we were already in act 2 by this time. We couldn't have cared less about what was going on in the internets.

Am I really the only one to bring this up?

Watched others play it on streams, wasn't impressed. Sad times when the clones of diablo look much better than the actual sequel. No doubt it will still get better reviews because of it's name.

By the way, koreans already beat the game in just 2 hours.
