Diablo 3 WILL HAVE offline, but is "discouraged".

Should just be that you have an online character. That character can be copied to a single player game. Changes to multiplayer would be saved in the single player but not the other way around. Avoids the hacking and you still get to play your awesome character.

Seriously, who got Diablo 2 for the single player ? Seriously

I did, I've played on-line only with close friends. I never cared for ladder or whatever happens on battle.net and you would be surprised how many people are on the same boat as me.

And it will be the same with Diablo 3. The only time I will play on-line is with friends. So to answer your question, many people bought Diablo 2 for the single player, I for one think that's the best part of the game.

Maybe some aspiring coder will mod the game into having a single player offline.
In the same way they gave Total War a multiplayer online.
That shit blew my mind.
