Diablo 3 has been on the table for years now, and ever since its release fans have been clamoring to get a glimpse of the available classes. So far, 5 have been confirmed, but more may be added with future expansions, as was the case with Diablo 2. The classes confirmed so far:
Barbarian: Not only is this class similar to the one we saw in Diablo 2, this Barbarian IS the same one from Diablo 2. Same character, same playstyle, same backstory et cetera. Ideal for players who want to bash some poor demon's head in with a hammer, or whatever it is these brutes bash things with.
Witch Doctor: Said to be a mix between Diablo 2's Necromancer and Druid. Basically that means summoning a lot of minions and cursing your enemies, only this time the summons & curses are nature based. Judging by the name you may have guessed they were going for a voodoo theme with this character.
Wizard: Essentially the sorceress from Diablo 2, only this time around you can play a DUDE wizard should you so choose, and not all of his/her attacks are element based this time. Though from what I've seen of the trailer, this character is a bit of Wild-Card in terms of personality and may or may not have a bit of an ego. Time will tell.
Monk: Clearly not a stab at Shaolin Monks (hint-hint), this spiritual sage seeks to bring peace to the world! Of course, he does so by beating things to death with his bare fists. This guy reminds me of an "Assassin-Barbarian" hybrid.
Demon Hunter: This character is essentially Van Helsing, whether that is a selling point or a hindrance remains to be seen. But the Demon Hunter has grenades and dual-wielding handheld crossbows, it's as though the Assassin and the Amazon had a baby--which is odd as both of them were women.
Personally, none of theses classes really clique with me the way the Necromancer did, but I'm going to wait for the game to come out before I bash it, I look forward to playing with/against fellow Blizzard fans when this game finally comes out. What class will you play as?
