No, I'm not referring Disney's Aladdin.
I'm talking about exceptionally well done moments or elements in games, movies, etc. that are let down by the rest of the work being mostly crap.
For example, mine is the story twist in the game Prototype.
As a whole, the story in Prototype was HORRIBLE. It was poorly paced, most of it didn't make any sense, and the dialogue was completely melodramatic, badly written, and half-heartedly delivered.
But the twist was fantastic.
It's even done pretty well, with the information needed to see it coming given in the first few minutes of gameplay, but it's not revealed until just before the last couple missions.
In a nutshell, you are Alex Mercer. You wake up on an autopsy table with your memory fragmented and the ability to shapeshift. You also have the ability to 'consume' other people, thereby gaining snippets of their memory and the ability to assume their form.
Spotted the twist yet?
Turns out
The rest of the reveals in the game are pretty bad, and many require a very loose interpretation of science and a lot of willful suspension of disbelief.
That moment you find out the truth has always stuck with me, though.
So, Escapists, what are some other instances where a game/movie/book has had a moment, or element, that was let down by the rest of it.

you're not Alex Mercer. He was just the first person you consumed.
