I miss Battlefield Bad Company 2 - why can't they make a great game like that? Instead of this pile of shit.
Huh. Didn't really expect that, never thought too much of BC2 as it was too consoleified for my liking and BF3 was like them trying to go back to BF2 but not quite getting far enough from BC2.

BF4 to me feels brilliant, it feels like a true successor to Battlefield 2 and I'm personally very happy about that.

I'd be happier if it was 2143 though..

Well, you almost couldn't give less freedom.

Listen, we don't give a single shit about your single player game. I'm sorry story writers... no, wait, I'm not sorry, your story sucks.

I'm actually not sure I'm even getting BF4. Planetside 2 is a pretty kickass game in its own right and features larger battles than even the PC versions of BF4.

I like Planetside 2 but you need to be in a group to truly get the most out of its potential. I currently do not have such a group :-(

Nor do I. I've had some pretty decent times in pickup squads recently. I know I likely could get more out of it, but there are some noob-friendly solo-friendly classes, namely any of them if you play right. The easiest are medics and engineers though. The ability to revive allies means everyone will like you and you don't die as often because you are supposed to stay slightly back.

While they're at it, they need to include a helicopter mission in single-player so noobs like me have a way to practice flying the damn things without killing a bunch of multiplayer teammates in the process.
Luckily, they're putting in a practice mode of some sort. This is from Lars Gustavsson, the Creative Director for Dice.

Lars Gustavsson: "We've definitely heard that people are afraid of getting in there [and using vehicles like helicopters] and that?s not our intent, so what we?ve done is, we?ve added a test range, which allows you to try out all the hardware ahead of time so that if you want to learn to fly a helicopter you can get in there and you can find the settings that work best for you. And then start doing some stunt flights just to feel safe before you go out and get the responsibility of a bunch of other people sitting in your helicopter, so I truly hope that this will help people feel more safe about trying out the whole battlefield."

This is something that I have desperately need for the past two Battlefield games.

Oh DICE, somehow I doubt your claim. Unless you pull a Spec Ops: The Line on us, BF4 is going to be as bland, boring, terribly written and torturous to play as 3.

i have high doubts with that. besides looking visually really amazing, it still looks like a linear shooter like in BF3. it would be again one of these campaigns were you can say,"yes, played it. back to MP."

There's a fundamental difference between the approach of "I want my game to challenge the player" and "I want my game to make the player feel smart". BF4 has a lot of catching up to do.

Gameplay-wise, Spec Ops wasn't much better than any other FPS. Better writing doesn't make a game more challenging.

By "pull a Spec Ops: The Line" I of course mean make a satire of Modern FPSs. I'm surprised that we haven't seen another yet.
