Yeah, I'm gonna add one more 'YES', thank you for not rising to it.

violence is a last resort, unless you're one of those subhuman idiots who thinks it makes you look more of a man, kicking someone on the floor.

Thanks for ruining his night by not rising to it, I hope the rest of his evening was as dull, too.

You did the right thing, but you could have easily smacked the little prick to the ground and moved on, not beating the crap out of him but reminding him not to be an asshole.

You absolutely did the right thing. Real men fight when they must. Getting into a little brawl with some punk kid would be beneath you. You would have won- that means the police would have sided with him, even though any competent person can see it was his fault.

You did what was right, you protected yourself from wrongful arrest, and you didn't humor the little shit. Does it get any more Win than that?

Yes. Indisputably.

People like that are just looking for an excuse to hurt someone, especially obvious when they goad you to fighting. Not touching him in any way guaranteed that he would have no defensive argument.

Well, soon as hit put his hands on you you had every right to lay his tiny, drunk ass on the ground. Which seeing as how I'm not anywhere near as nice as you, I would have done.

....Wait, you said this happend in the UK?

I take back what I said. Smart move on your part.

I would of decked the guy...If he was pushing and slapping and being an over all ass as you say I'd eventually feel obligated to knock him out.

But sure, I'd say you did the right thing...to each their own you know?

Pretty impressive. Not just that you kept your cool, but also that you handled it very calmly. I would have been pretty scared in that situation.

You ought to keep that as one of your stories. Girls might find it appealing. XD

Very impressive, I'd have probably caved his face in against the pavement.

Lucky it wasn't my former friend (turned total junkie so i had to disown him:( ) hes a mental case, there was a few guys standing by his car with a screw driver looking at it. He over reacted thinking they were about to wreck the paint job.

(it was a REALLY rare ford btw)

So he promptly went down booted hell out of the first two, deck the third, jammed his face into the kerb and the road and punted him in the back f the head, smashed his face, broke his nose and broke all his front teeth from the sheer force.

You killed a real life troll, nicely done. If it was me I would of chatted to him while I walked and made him uneasy as I am a terrible fighter that I would have to drown him in my own blood to kill him.

Yeah, you did the right thing. Fist-fighting whilst sober can lead to bad things happening (this happened to a friend of mine this week...) but whilst drunk, they can turn really nasty really quick.
It takes a lot more to ignore someone and walk away than it does to just lose it...

This is why I don't drink.

Yes, you likely did the right thing. I say this because thretaning to call the cops might have kept him from taking his anger out on someone else. Also, if I were to be purely optimistic, I would say that he might have went home and rethought his life. Maybe.

My Apoloiges; I rant.

He obviously wanted you to hit him so he could have some sort of excuse to pull a knife or something, so you definatley did the right thing.

there is no right or wrong for this. well done for holding back, but if it was me i'd have pasted his face across a wall then broke his ankles.

id have probably lost it around the point he slapped my face.
call me all the names you want. touch me and thats the point where i feel youve let me know physical contact is imminent. saying this i will try and avoid a fight at all costs. as they say "the bigger man walks away".

Hats off to you sir for your steely resolve. hitting him would have probably been a bad thing overall.

a couple fun things you can try
1 - if he insults you, insult yourself worse right back, so basically agree with him and add to it
Did that one its amazing how calm you can stay when you have a self-deprecating sense of humour anyway. At the point he was slapping me he started saying stuff like "do you like this?" "are you getting your kicks out of this?" and I just kept replying with things like "oh yeah I'm pretty turned on right now".
