Did they change the spinning button?

I remember when it first came out it rotated the screen a random amount of degrees and just stuck it there, but now it actually spins the whole page around in one motion. It's actually kind of fun. ^_^

Has it been this way for a while? I admit, after the first time I was extremely hesitant to press it again.
