I have been thinking, after I bought minecraft the game intrigued me with its wide gaming experience, you could explore and you are able to find the world around you is randomly generated, I wondered, would this be able to be put into another type of game genre? Such as having a randomly generated RPG or even strategy game. It would make things more interesting and would result in a person having a new type of experience with the game. This is just what I think, please share your opinions on the matter.

Didn't Elder Scrolls 2: Daggerfall randomly generate large parts of the world or something?

People are wary of random generation due to things feeling whitewashed and all the same. You know, "Random Generation so the game never gets boring, each time is new!" Each time is new....a new placement of the same walls with the same foes with the same sameness, etc.

Though I do so love random generation of worlds when it does not all feel so similar.

ArmA II has the ambient battle mode which randomley spawns enemies at anytime.

It also is the best game to boast about it's no play through is the same.

I know that, however it can also be implemented on online games (to a certain degree). Such as having a randomly generated FPS game and having to deal with the enviroment, this would have people saying "its not fair I don't know the area" However in truth, no one knows the surrounding area, giving it more of a realistic feel, now, you could argue about the realistic feel, but it adds more too the game, plus, don't we already see games that repeat them selves and we are not bored? Even if this is considered bad, yes it has its downsides im aware, and it has been implemented before, but not too many games it seems like and in the ways I think it could be used.

Dark Cloud and a few others have randomly generated dungeons but I dunno about any randomly generated worlds.
