Sorry, cant finish that sentence without shooting myself in the face. I've seen better shows created by hurling dead cats at walls. Yet another stupid franchised saturday morning kid's show.
While I disagree with your opinion, I would like to know what shows were created by hurling dead cats at walls.
How do you think MXC dialogue is written?

I sat down one day and decided to watch the original series of the folowing TV shows:

Sonic the hedgehog
Teenage Mutant HERO turtles (back when ninja was a bad word or something although throughout every show that's what they refered to themselves as)
Bucky O'Hare
Captain Planet

You wanna know what i realised about these shows?

1:this stuff could only have been entertaining if you're a kid.. and in the eighties
2:Voice acting was POOR as well as scripted dialogue
3:Animation budgets must have been low back in the day, and i'm not saying like in terms of they used paper and we use computers, i mean the amount of animation mistakes that were made back then it's obscene.

I'd almost forgotten, but yeah, I used to watch Digimon back in the day. I remember that I'd always assumed it was just a cheap Pokémon knockoff up until I actually watched it and was surprised by how good it was. Being a bit of a computer geek (imagine that...), I was quite intrigued by the digital/real world divide. I stopped watching during the third season (I thought the whole "real kids who watch Digimon suddenly find out it's real" thing was lame), but I'd gotten tired of watching Pokémon before that.

It's been years now since I've seen anything Digimon, and I can only remember bits and pieces of episodes now, but I wonder what I'd think of it now. I'd probably be a bit impressed by how it holds up, but I'd have to be somewhat embarrassed to be watching it, given that I already felt like I was too old for it back in 8th grade... ;)

I've been watching waaaaaay too many old episodes of Power Rangers on Youtube as of late. I can say with pride it still kicks all sorts of ass, at least until they got new people. Everything after the first cast change just doesn't have the same soul.

IT'S MORPHIN' TIME!

Dude! I loved that show when I was little! Noone else had heard of it, its really a shame it got canceled and replaced with the oh-so-shity- knock off seasons.

I liked Digimon, I still do. But it's like Pokemon. When the new seasons came out, I decided Why bother?
I agree that the newer seasons did lose some of the flair of the original (see the basket of shit and marshmallows that was season four, Frontier), but the first season, Adventure, and the third season, Tamers, are above and beyond my favorites. The rest of them, except maybe the last season, Savers, which passes because it has a hothead who punches things, can go die of scurvy in a corner.

As for the Pokemon-Digimon comparison, while they are very similar, at least Digimon has the complex Digital World/Human World syncrisity, while Pokemon is just...well, you know, catching Pokemon. Ad infinitum.
The problem with Digimon was the shows became less about the actual digimon and more about the kids. I'm looking at you season 4 and your digimon spirit crap. However I did enjoy the end of season four where those 2 knight digimon were deleting portions of the digital world while beating down the kids every episode. The best part was when the kids declared they would save the digital world while standing on the moon because the world was already gone.

I don't know what it was but I really never got into Digimon. I gave it a good chance as a kid, watching a handful of episodes when the first season came out and I wasn't pulled in.

My vote goes for Voltron. I dont care that it was crazy cheesy. Voltron always got his ass kicked and then one swipe of the sword and Bang instant dead baddies. Got ta love it.

Before I start, this is a serious thread. I do NOT want people ridiculing others (especially me) for anything they mention in this thread. Also, this is not a "my favorite show" thread, so no lists, please.

Now then, I recently rediscovered an old favorite (all right, my absolute favorite) show that I watched when I was a kid. Digimon, obviously, it's in the title. As I was watching it, I became surprised at several things.
1) Digimon aged incredibly well for a show over 10 years old (alot of time by today's standards).
2) It stood far above the pointless drivel being pumped up today, on both sides of the Pacific (Disney, I'm looking at you).
3) It was actually fun to watch! I'm serious! Even ignoring the obvious nostalgia factor, I really enjoyed watching it. I'm 19, well old enough to appreciate darker, more nuanced, and better written shows, and I still liked it (which came as a bit of a shock to me). I'm well aware there are better shows. Much of the TV shows on my shelf qualifies, but Digimon still pulled me in.

Anyway, for discussion's sake, what old TV show, cartoon or otherwise, did you watch as a kid and do you think any of the three points mentioned apply to it?
Digimon was dubed decently enough and the fiction and characters were sound, unlike Savers that went all power rangers like and it got...silly...

Beast wars is still good as is reboot even if its slightly dated, the Tekaman blade dub is not to bad but good god the Japanese version is dated/cheasey 0-o

Medabots was/is good it really depends on how dismissive of fiction you are, some people write off cartoons/aniamtion yet drool over the poo hollywood cooks up because its not animated... I can;t stand US TV/Hollywood anymore and switched to 100% subtitled anime and hvae not had to look back...tho anime is on shaky ground as they are doing fiction changing in order to resell it better on DVD much like how hollwood changes fiction thats sold well into crap that dose not.... still in general its not to the dumb it down level of hollywood... yet....

I liked Digimon too but I only really watched the first 2 or 3 series. After that it got a bit weird. I still watch and enjoy it sometimes as well.

I used to watch a show on nikalodian called "Hey Arnled" about a kid who lives in NYC, it has a more mature style in it. Also it was on after digimon.

Always wondered what happened to Digimon and it's card game as well, I know they have a few games out now but all I heard of it.

Also used to love the Monster Rancher show, As well Two stupid dogs and Secret Squirrel but I doubt anyone remembers those now.

Ahh childhood, I remember the days when bad writing and worse voice acting seemed less annoying than the educational, sesame street type shows. Now I would willingly watch elmo rather than turn on something like Pokemon. I will digress that Digimon covered its back well. It was a good show for violence hungry children, but it also had the darker side that can appeal to those who go back to watch it again.

I always thought that was written by somebody who watched too much Mystery Science Theatre 3000 and Japanese game shows... at the same time.

Darkwing Duck, and Sharky and George. Both probably fall down on points one and two, but they were definitely fun.
