I loved Digimon, back in the day it was better in every area than pokemon outside of their actual videogames. Then there came the fourth season where they didn't have actual digimon partners for each kid and the kids just became digimon, not like the super cool two souls one body forms from season 3 but just the kid becoming a digimon. That just lost my interest and I've not been back since.

I always wanted to get into Tri and play the recently released PS4 Jrpgs which seem like genuinely good games, I've just been too busy with other stuff to do so.

Overall, my fav was the latter half of season 2 and everything with Impmon in season 3. Those dna evolutions man, giving me goosebumps~

Oh and Patamon is a boss. He just seems wimpy to make you let your guard down.
I don't know about any mobile consol digimon games, and they probably got womped by pokemon even if they exist, but as far as home console I actually think digimon had a pretty solid showing. The PS1 game had some drawbacks, but was a surprisingly deep showing, particularly given the departure from a simple adventure format show. Screens were too small and load times between them were way too long, but the world was huge and had a tonne of interactions and quest, varying depending on what digimon you had.
Oh I never said they were "bad" per-se, just worse than pokemon. Digimon World 2 for the ps1 was a ton of fun and I even liked Digimon Rumble Arena which was kinda like a Digimon Smash and even had movie-exclusive Omnimon. The latter handheld stuff was a lot better too, it's my understanding that the ps4 ones are like the next evolution of those games.
I hear what you're getting at, I was just kind of thinking about the console digimon offerings vs the console pokemon. As much as pokemon had some rad games, I just don't think they had a very good home console offering. Digimon really came out of the gate swinging at home, and pokemon trailed a little with very specific/niche offerings like pokemon snap.

Pokemon didn't really have any notable home console stuff at the timeframe I'm thinking, outside of like, pokemon stadium. Though I will say that the gamecube games were a whole lot more polished than anything digimon around that era. After that though Digimon definitely caught up.

I think my favorite part of Adventure 01 is the arc where they go back to Tokyo. It really works well for the show. First you get to know the characters as they are thrust into a hostile land full of strange geography. They spend months walking through deserts, forests, and mountains dealing with a world they barely understand. Then they make it back to the real world and we feel their relief at finally seeing their families and having access to modern amenities again.

It really shakes up the show and makes it all fresh again. There is a completely different set of challenges for children with few monetary resources to cross a major city while also trying to keep their talking monsters from attracting attention from the crowds of people. We also get opportunities to see more of the lives of our main characters, get to know their families and how they get along. The stakes are ramped up as well. Instead of fighting in the sparsely populated Digital World, they are fighting in one of the biggest cities in the world. Every battle is reported on by the news and causes major destruction. I almost feel like this should have been the final arc, because going back to the Digital World after this feels like a major step back in tension.

It's a fantastic arc on the whole. I think it makes the show far better than if it had been only set in the Digital World, or even if it had started in the real world.

I really hate how the Japanese outro spoils the identity of the 8th child, though. Like as soon as the question of who the 8th child could be they change the outro to include kari and Gatomon. Come on! The show on the whole is terrible for spoiling itself though. There are very few evolutions that aren't spoiled before they happen in the show.

They need to make a sequel for Tamers

Are you sure? I don't want a sequel to Tamers, because it mind turn into a bad fanfic similar to Tri. The ending for Tamers was bittersweet and ended perfectly. The two movies after the series ended are non-canon, but most fans like myself pretend they are anyway.

That is the problem with most Japanese intros or outros, they spoil most things before the episodes starts. People can complain about dubs all they want, but at least those versions don't reveal anything, until after the twist has been shown. This is especially true for dubs back in the 90s and early 2000s.
