Digital Camera Help

Ok, so my Mom wants to get a digital camera (she justs wants to use it for casual pictures, including stuff like parties), and she wants me to see if the one she wants to get is good or not. In all honesty, I don't know much about digital cameras, and was wondering if any of you guys could help me out. The camera costs $100, is a Fuji 10MP 3x Zoom Digital Camera with Face Detection and Video, and its specs are:

- Includes digital camera, rechargeable lithium-ion battery, battery charger, hand strap, USB cable, A/V cable, and CD-ROM
- 10MP resolution
- 2.5" diagonal LCD screen
- 45MB internal memory
- 3X optical zoom
- Face detection
- Red-eye removal

Is this good or not? If its a good camera, but too expensive, please tell me as well. If you have any good suggestions as where to get better cameras or how to get cameras as good as or better than this for cheaper, please help as well.

Depends what shes using it for..if its just casual holiday photography that would seem a feasible option.

I'm not an expert but is the lens a carl-zeiss lens? Those are considered one of the best on the market.

However the question is does your Mom want a camera that would allow her to take quick pictures on the fly? Or more professional and high quality that would be bigger but offer more resolution?

If you could supply the model or name of the camera you are talking about it would defiently help out future posters on this topic.
