Every single one of us has or had a Playstation 2 and with PS2 comes the inevitable, infamous, godforsaken Disc Read Error, or DRE, and now that it's been almost 10 years I'm pretty sure my PS2 is out of warranty. The reason I'm making this thread is that I need help with my PS2 for the DRE problem. I'm going out of state for a bit to visit family, and I dont want to bring my brand new $300 PS3 on a 2 day roadtrip. I also picked up Resident Evil 4 cheap and can't play it because my PS2 only works when it feels like.(It's worse than the printer in the movie Office Space). So I picked up RE4 Tuesday and I got DRE, not surprising in the least it's from 2005 what did I expect, so I rinsed it off with room temperature water and dried with a clean rag and of course DRE. So I got suspicous. I put in my old games, COD:Finest Hour, Sly Cooper, GTA:Vice City, and MGS2. DRE,DRE,DRE, and DRE. Mind you Sly Cooper was practically brand fucking new, no scratches, no dust, nothing. So do you guys know any quick fixes for this? Unless all my games simultaneously were scratched by the fairy-fucking-godmother I'm not blaming them.
I looked into it and theres a method were you open up the PS2 and take a sharpie marker and mark on a lense or something and I can't do that because I'm a big retard. Any advice is appreciated.
EDIT: I had let my friend's son borrow it for a month and I'm just getting it back yesterday. Not sure what the little bastard did to it.
