Dishonored PC Sprint Toggle?

So, this is the only other place I know of to ask for help with this relatively minor, but important-to-me issue.

Dishonored has no toggle option for sprinting.
This bothers me.

The PC Gaming Wiki claims that an edit to the INI file can actually add the ability to toggle sprinting (similar to how it is used when playing with a controller), however when I do so it does not work.

Researching on Google only gives me results of people redirecting me back to the PC Gaming Wiki again, or having unanswered questions.

If I can solve this tiny problem, my play experience would be almost perfect (with the exception that this game always seems to give me headaches regardless of FOV setting). So please help me if you have the time.

I've followed the guide point by point, but it doesn't seem to work. I've tried the following:
-Setting the INI file to Read Only
-Placing quotations in spots identical to how they are placed in the sprint toggle for gamepad section
-Binding to a key other than Left shift

Here is a link to the PC Gaming Wiki section about the INI edit: http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Dishonored#Change_sprint.2Frun_from_hold_to_toggle

Which file are you editing? Unreal Engine 3 games usually have two sets of .ini files. One in game installation folder somewhere and one in My Documents folder. Try both.

Everything I've read recommends only editing the file found under My Games in the My Documents folder, but I did try finding a similar file under the installation directory for Dishonored.

I found a DefaultInput.ini and tried editing the keybinding for sprinting there with the same line, but that still resulted in no change.

I've no clue in that case. I know that these things sometimes don't work and there doesn't seem to be an explanation for it. For some people editing .ini files in Batman games (also UE3 engine) to increase the FOV didn't work.

EDIT: Have you tried after editing the defaultinput.ini to set controls back to default in the game options? Maybe that needs to be done for it to take effect.

Only thing I can suggest is to take another look at the .ini file and ensure you're changing the relevant control section - the one at the top. Otherwise you might find it's actually changing the gamepad ones.

I know it certainly worked out all right for me.

That was actually a hopeful idea, but still no success. Thank you for trying to help though. It might just end up being one of those things I'll have to get over.

I double checked this morning after I saw your reply, and I'm pretty dang sure I'm editing the right area.

Are you able to open your game right now and check and see if it still works for you? Perhaps send me a screenshot of your ini to see if I am indeed editing the right spot?

I literally just finished (re)playing this yesterday, fun coincidence :) I found I really didn't run a great deal. Most of the time on-the-job is spent crouched and blinking about the place. I even left picking up agility 2 till one of the last skills.

My issue with Dishonored controls is also a massive annoyance and shows lack of thought when it came to designing the game. The entire game is presented as offering a choice between essentially lethal and non-lethal approaches. There are literally two solutions two every assassination (functionally identical obviously) which play on the same theme. The game changes based on how much Chaos the player causes, directly tied to number of dead bodies.

So this game that offers a completely non-lethal approach then FORCES you to carry your sword in your right hand, all the time. The sword has NO function except to be lethal, in the context of the game. Instead of how other games allow you to put what you want in whichever hand, you can only change Corvo's left hand. So all blinking, sleep darts, possession, dark vision, etc, etc has to be on the same hand. WHY? Bad design, lack of forethought. Hopefully they'll fix this in 2.

I really like the game, even tho it's really not that great.

That actually worked...

I think the article needs to be more clear, because I was editing this:

Thanks a lot for that mate, this was a irking concern in the back of my mind while playing for a few hours now.
