So with all the big new info from Square Enix's production meeting today, I noticed a sever lack of Dissidia info in the news site as the other games seemed to have got more attention and god damn was there a massive info dump. A new trailer was shown revealing two new characters, a special demo, a neat gameplay surprise and a few leaked images.

First off, epic leaked trailer:

An HD version will be available on the 27th

The trailer reveals two new characters and some of Yunas gameplay. The two new characters revealed at the end are Prishe from FF11, a character that was originally supposed to be in the first game but was cut. And the second reveal only appearing in voice but it is none other than GILGAMESH!!! The end of the trailer shows Bartz walking along in the rift while a portal materializes behind him and an echoing voice utters "It's been a long time Bartz"....yea that's Gilagamesh.

Looks like all the characters that were cut from the first game are making their triumphant return int he sequel, just need another FF13 character and every game will have a fair representation.

Next up is Prolgous. A few months back a trade mark was filed for Japan, Europe, and North America called Dissdia Duodecim Prologous. For the longest time it was implied to be a demo =by many...and they were right. But this demo is special, it comes with a short story mode that connects to the main game and is only experienced through this demo, and arcade mode. It also comes with a special assist character; Aerith from FF7. The demo is a paid demo and costs about 4 bucks US and will have the ability of carrying save date from the demo over to the main game that will carry over items and unlock Aerith as a special assist.

It's out in Japan now, no news of when it'll hit North America. Maybe a torrent will pop up eventually, I'll keep looking for it and update if I find anything.

And finally, a few leaked gameplay screens revealing Warrior of Lights and Garlands 3rd cotsumes, and they look AWESOME.

Warrior of Light in FF1s fighter look, EX mode on the right

Garland goes demonic, EX mode on right

Firion, EX on right

Emperor Mateus, Ex on right

Onion Knight, EX mode yadda yadda you get it

Cloud of Darkness

Cecil based on his FF4DS design

Kains Hooded Man and Dark Drgoon costumes

Golbez in his Man in Black costume

Bartz in his Freelancer outfit

ExDeath in his....I dunno but he looks pissed, an Amano design apparently

Terra...and her EX mode reminds me of carbuncle

Kefka and his EX mode

Tifa + Cowgirl uniform = win

Sephiroth sporting his classic look

Biker Squall XD

Laguna in casual wear...that's not what you wear to battle silly

Ultemecia as Edea

Zidane in his Pluto Knight uniform + EX skin

Kuja is just another re-color...what a shame but still looks nice

Tidus thought Vaan had the right idea

Yunas wedding dress and her other being a recolor

Jecht sporting his Zanarkand Abdes uniform

Shantoto in more fancy duds

OMG Vaan actually put on a shirt!

Lightning in her Officers uniform

Annnd that's all I got for now. God damn I'm more excited for this game now!! Still mad they didn't give a North American release date....

So..thoughts? Discuss whatever you feel needs discussing or just share your general excitement.

EDIT: Some youtube gameplay of Prologous demo:
Note: The player is using the command style control scheme (Ie: scrub mode)...I have no idea why but tat actual game is best played the standard way. He seems to be playing on easy mode which explains the stupid ai and what not. Be a while before any high level play is seen.

UPDATE: Supposedly Prishe and Gilgamesh's Dissdia concept art has been leaked and these images are mighty convincing.

I...I just don't know.

Some bits of it look even better than the first...and then other parts make me sooooo disappointed already.

The main thing that bothers me is that the plot's premise still seems to be the same...which makes no sense considering in the first one, we kinda REALLY REALLY REALLY broke the whole endless cycle...

The story of Dissidia Duodecim is a PREQUEL to Dissdia. This story explains what happened to these "new" characters and leads into the next cycle. If that is all that you're disappointed in, it really shouldn't be. But please share your thoughts on it.

The first games story was the final cycle (the 13th cycle), Duodecim is the previous cycle hence the 012 in the name.

So far from everyone I've heard that's playing the demo, the gameplay has been improved immensely. The speed has been upped, more fluid, more attacks, ect...

Hmmmm, that does clear things up for me in terms of plot.

But then a lot of the outfits and cutscenes leave me scratching my head. Wasn't Jecht a good guy in the story's past, and Sephiroth shared many characteristics with 'good' characters. I know it was said he took his own life in the 12th cycle...but we're never told what side he was on. And if that's the case, why's he fighting Tifa/Cloud?

Speaking of Cloud. GAH! What the fuck did they do to his outfit!? It doesn't even look like a crossbreed between Amano and Nomura anymore, he just looks plain old bad!

Jecht is on Cosmos' side at the beginning of the story, hence why his clothing is a little different and why he is fighting with the cosmos warriors at the beginning. In a previous trailer, you see Emperor and Garland talking to Chaos telling him to "pour his power into this vessel". You see Jecht lying unconscious behind them.

Sephiroth is on Chaos' side as it is clearly seen in the CGI footage as he fights Tifa. He was never a good guy in this cycle, he took his life to find out the true nature of the conflict. How he does it and more on hwy will be explained.

Many other questions are sure to be answered in this game along with probably more questions that could be answered in a third game? If they continue to make sequels, they will continue to go further back in the time line so the third game would be the 11th cycle and so on.

The only complaint I have is that I saw a lot of re used arenas. I know it is a trailer so I am not to disappointed yet. I am not so much in it for the story (I found the first one boring but kept with it cause i enjoyed the fighting style so damn much)so i don't mind any issues with it.

I just REALLLLLYYYY hope that we are going to see a number of new arenas.

Well of course they are going to bring back all of the previous arenas, why not? It would make no sense to get RID of content, and they don't wanna give everything away all at once. But there are several new arenas, there will be a new stage for every new character added to the game which makes 8 so far.

The new stages revealed are:
Orphans Cradle (FF13)
Prima Vista (FF9)
Arubboth (FF2)
Crystal Tower outside (FF3)
Empyreal Paradox (FF11)
Phantom Train (FF6)
Sky Fortress Bahamut (FF12)
And the new world map could be considered a new stage as it is an exact replica of FF1's world map.

So there is at least one or two stages yet to be revealed. But still that brings it up to 20-24 stages tops. That's a lot of places to choose from.

It's not that i wanted them to be gotten rid of, it's just from that trailer alone i saw a lot of the same stages. It's good to know there are news ones So i am glad. As said though from watching the trailer all i saw was the ones from the first game which made me nervous. That's all.

Don't worry, i have no desire to see the old ones wiped out. I just wanted to see some new ones, which as you say there are. So all is well.

Any word if Vayne, Barthandelus and Xande will be included?
Vayne wont be in it because 12 already got Vaan AND Sky fortress Bahamut. So 12 has gotten enough representation by being given a second character and a representing stage.

Xanda won't be included because FF3 got the Crystal Tower as a second stage. Games that receive new stages (with few notable exceptions) don't get a new character. It's one or the other, stage or character. That and they stated just before these reveals that all remaining character announcments are from the SNES era FF games and up.

Barthandelus (ie: Super Pope) may get in because 13 does not have a second character, but FF13 may very well only get Lightning as a character and no one else. She seems to have a rather important role in the story and there seems to be conflict between her and Warrior of Light and Garland. She could end up the same as Shantoto and Gabranth were in the first game, only having one character represent their game. But who knows, there was a vague rumor of Cid Reins being in but that's yet to be seen.

I really hope this one doesn't get boring as fast as the first did. I was done with that game after a week.

Really? I pumped in a good 175 hours before I started getting bored. Even then, I'll still happily play with with friends.

Pity, I know that Square isn?t going to make both sides equal but I was hoping for a few more Villains.
Actually...despite the fact that a lot of the new characters are protagonists, the sides are still "equal". Tidus, Terra, and Cloud are shown fighting along side Chaos' forces, and we know Jecht get converted somehow. In recent footage of the Prologus demo, you come across Cloud who is assisted by Golbez, as Lightning and Warrior of light confront him. so Cloud is a "bad guy" for a portion of the story.

That and the developers said that pertaining to the story, the sides are not as clear cut as they were in the first game. There are a lot of shade of gray with hints of infighting between cosmos characters and character defecting and whatnot. But to be honest, there are not that many notable bad guys to choose from, good guys always outnumber the bad, but the baddies are always several leagues more powerful.

On another note, some people have been hacking into the Demos ISO and those pictures of Gilgamesh and Prishe ARE REAL, the textures and portraits are in the demo ISO along with Aeriths picture and all the game data junk.

The one pic that surprised me and has me crapping my pants in excitement is this alternate pic of Chaos. His normal portraits are there but another, more scarier portrait hints to something interesting.

WTF IS THAT!? Super Chaos or something!? Is this going to be some sort of super boss or what? Why does he have a demonic crotch!? God I can't wait to see what this terrifying picture unfolds.

And I am hoping Cosmos becomes a boss character as well, be pretty epic fighting her and there is supposedly a chaos story line so that would be a suiting boss character.

As funny as that would be, it ain't happening. I fear Prishe and Gilgamesh are the last characters to be revealed unless there will be a secret unlock able character(s) like the first game has with Shantoto and Gabranth.

Still...that brings 8 new characters to the roster which by all means is a very decent amount of new characters to add, and brings the playable roster to 30. Given their space restrictions and all the content they managed to pack into the UMD (new characters, stages, THE FIRST GAMES STORY), I have to hand it to the team.

Can't wait for the english demo to come out, it better be damn well soon.

EDIT: Found footage of the Demos Prologue story, not subbed or anything but at least you get a glimpse at some gameplay and the story event that leads into the main game.

Yea I'm still curious on how these quests are supposed to work and are made. I bet they will be like challenges you can made, maybe even a bit of a script editor built into it or something.

And apparently there will be more DLC costumes and music to get for the game after it comes out. Hell they might even have more DLC assist character similar to Aerith. Still waiting for the god damn english demo to hurry up and come out, I really wanna try out some of the Lightning combos I've seen people do in gameplay vids.

THe Japanese site has been updated with ALL Characters. I think it's rpetty awesome that Gilgamesh's alternate costume is his FF8 costume.

I hate these captchas
