Diving into an MMO - EVE

So I had a spur of the moment thought and it involved playing an MMO. I have however played a handful of MMOs in the past but most of them were browser based games. I did play a Guild Wars though and to date remains my only PC MMO.

As a genre I am not an overly big fan of it but I do enjoy it in small doses. That's why I opted for Guild Wars because it was free and unlike WoW, I wouldn't feel bad for not following through a paid subscription. [That said I would pay for the Bioware Star Wars MMO, shit looks epic there!). Anyhoo..recently I had an incline of playing EVE online and was wondering, if anyone here has played it and if so what do they think about it? I am actually interested in EVE from what I have read and heard but I would like an Escapist opinion?

If you have played it, did you or did you not enjoy it? Also any other MMO recommendations?

I thought EVE was pretty damn good, although it does take time and effort to get into it properly. Some people may find it boring because it takes quite a lot of time to learn and get into but if you find a corporation (I think thats what they are called) with friendly people in that are willing to help you out then it should be pretty fun. As for other games I did play WoW for a while but eventually it got boring for me and the subscription wasn't worth it anymore.

Eve doesn't work in small doses. Sure, there's stuff to do, but the real fun and satisfaction requires that you really invest into it.

Didn't like LotRO, bugged out in Guild Wars, EVE was too confusing for my six year old brain, and WoW has got me in its grips for now.
BUT! What I could make out of EVE, is that it's very interesting, and you should give it a go.

Never tried EVE, WoW also has me in a death grip (Yeah, I came out of Hiatus for Cataclysm. Sue me.), STO started out good but got old quickly, didn't like City of Heros/Villains, and DDO is probably the best Free to Play MMO out there.
