Inglorious Bastards was insulting. Yeah yeah. A bunch of Jewish guys with NY style baseball bats go hunting Nazis. ...... Okay? Where's the legitimate story?

I find this to be of the same caliber.

Feels like he's catering to the politically correct bandwagon. Lack of sensitivity towards history as well. He went from an awesome, slapstick, noir film director to just...this.

The original Django was a badass, the guy friggin kills half a dozen men with only his broken hands to use his gun.

This Django looks... off. I guess Tarantino is trying to mix spaghetti westerns and blackspoitation.

I'm with Goofguy here, it looks off, pretty much the setting and the style look very weird together, I'm not sure what to make of it.

Quentin Tarantino is one of my favorite directors, so that pretty much describes my enthusiasm and anticipacion for this movie.

Looks really good.

It made the Germans out to be the villains of WWII (not saying the Nazi camps and everything they did wasn't horrible) and not people of circumstance, was one of the most stereotypical movie of all time, and wasn't my cup of tea.

That's it.

I can never make my mind up about Tarantino. Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill were brilliant, but I thought Inglourious Basterds was good, but very overrated. I tend to find his films weirdly smug; they think they're a lot more clever than they actually are. Don't get me wrong, he's an extremely talented writer, but his films seem to me to be self-aware for the sake of being self-aware; the quirkiness and genre-blending rarely actually goes anywhere.

Still, I am really looking forward to Django Unchained. It has a great cast, and since this is Tarantino, the script is likely to be extremely good quality; I think it looks great. Of course, it helps that I love Westerns anyway, but I still have very high hopes.

Tarantino's pretty hit-or-miss, so I'll probably watch it, but keep my expectations down.

Didn't it do the exakt opposite? Aka pointing out the Germans as normal folks (well, some of them), while the Americans were a bunch of killcrazy douchebags?
Yeah, most of the Germans were just regular guys, and about an equal share of Americans and Germans were a bit...unstable.

Haters will hate, I suppose.

Inglorious Basterds is an amazing movie. It wasn't made to be a historically accurate retelling of WWII (god knows we've got many of those already), but rather a WWII movie in style of a 70'ies cheap film.

I'll watch it because Tarantino doesn't fail to entertain.
What other reason would anyone need? (looking at you, commenters above me)

I saw "Django". AWESOME!!!111!! I thought. The 1st words I read in the thread are "Quentin Tranatino". Goddamit. I'm sure there's some sort of image macro appropriate to convey my feelings but I'm too disappointed to bother to find it.

I thought this thread was going to be about Django Reinhardt.
Now I'm disappointed.

Since I like Quentin Tarantino (I don't know what people's beef with him is; he's a brilliant director and seems like a genuinely nice guy who just wants to make films inspired from the quirky flicks he watched and loved as he grew up) and, judging from the trailer of Django Unchained, it looks pretty good, I'm going to go in with optimistic expectations.

Haven?t really watched Inglorious Basterds: I just had it on in the background while I continued with my laptop stuff.

Only one man can save the Hot Club de France from Wagner-loving madmen. Django Reinhardt is... Gypsy Justice. Featuring Stephane Grappelli. Oui.

I'm sure Django isn't that badass in all the films that feature him. I mean, seven thousand and twenty six films, gotta be at least two where he's not awesome.

I saw this earlier, definitely looking forward to this as I love Quentin Tarantino.

Strange though how it's being released at Christmas... Oh well!

"[Sir], you had my curiosity. But now you have my attention."

Exactly my thoughts on this movie. Not sure how I'm going to squeeze this into with my holiday schedule, though.

Bloody ninjas :D

Totally agreed, I like the look of it. I'll admit, I'm a Tarantino fan, but on the other hand, Westerns (and the Western theme in general) very rarely grabs my attention. So we'll see how it turns out, but definitely seeing this in a theatre when it's out.
