Sounds like bad taste to me. But I think this whole thing is aiming at a completely different audience than me anyways, I wouldn't have bought that game anyways so this doesn't really change anything. Veterans, who are often forgotten and discarded by their own country, clearly deserve to get some money but $1 or even the targeted $1million+ don't really change much for them, considering the high fees needed for medical treatment, difficulty finding new jobs etc.

You are patriotic and/or want to help veterans? Just donate some money and skip this bad taste DLC (and possibly even the game). You could even donate the whole $50-60, imagine how this amount of money would help the veterans compared to that measely $1!

Looking back on those videos from the middle east of guys chanting "burn bush" and kicking the shit out of effigys to vent their powerlessness and frustration and who do that to this day just makes me think they should franchise this.

EA there is an untapped market in the world for this kinda of pointless cathartic wank. If Sniped Elite proved anything it proved that nerdy internet kids all want to kill digital Hitler.

I cannot believe that anyone would want to play this thing, aside from the fact that you can't kill the (unarmed) guy or shoot women in the face, it's a movie tie in and has an insultingly low plea to charity for trained killers and their families. (Is there not a easy to give to charity anyway?) I'd say it's a cynical cash in but we all know that. Anyone who gets their kicks killing a digital Bin Laden has issues beyond buying Medal Of Honour games.

Well, I'd guess their timing has something to do with that new book on the topic that just came out. [http://www.amazon.com/No-Easy-Day-Firsthand-Account/dp/0525953728/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1347373418&sr=8-1&keywords=no+easy+day] That and other anniversaries as well. A dollar to charity may not seem like much, but I suppose it's better than nothing.

Lots of anger in this thread...

Always thought it sucked that you didn't get to kill Hitler in the WWII Medal of Honor games.

1 Fucking dollar? This is not enough to justify a day one map pack. They should donate at least all profits. Or all the money and take a loss on it for charity. It is not charity if you profit from it.
It's still charity, whatever you think about how terrible the amount or their intentions are.
Yeah and I'd say that it's pretty likely that the game will shift 1 million units of limited edition and if not it's pretty likely it'll shift a million limited edition pre-orders and post-launch dlc sales.

While I don't like idea of paying for day 1 DLC I preordered anyway so it's not like it matters.
Seems perfectly reasonable to me, almost like EA are doing a nice thing for the world. It'd be nice if it was regional though, I'd rather my purchase money went to wounded soldiers from my own country.

So the military is only outraged until they get paid off? Good to know.
The money isn't going to the military, it's going to a charity for vets. And the *ONLY* reason the military had any problem with the last Medal of Honor game was because in the multiplayer you fought the Taliban. They didn't think that it'd be such a good idea for the soldiers to fight a virtual version of the guys they were currently fighting. The developers changed Taliban to Opposing Force, and then things were fine.

Why the HELL does the title of this article include the words "Bin Laden Manhunt" when it is made painfully clear that Bin Laden will -NOT- be a killable NPC and that the actual Mission that killed him will -NOT- be re-created?
How misleading can you possibly get?

Ignoring the guy (to the best of my ability anyway) who thinks the murder of 2,000+ innocent people is 'no big deal guies', the crippling illnesses that thousands of other got as a result of the terrorist attacks, the thousands of people whose lives were so grievously changed, and not to mention the 5,000+ brave American lives ALONE that have have been lost in the wars that came as a result of this 'no big deal', this seems like a bit of false advertisement.

"Hunt down bin Laden in our DLC add-on!"*

[sub]*Can not actually hunt down bin Laden in our DLC add-on.[/sub]
Was that directed at me, or at BiH-Kira? If so when I said not as big a deal I meant "the licensed tie-in part". I certainly don't think 9/11 was "no big deal" anyway.

Just to clarify is all. I'm just confused since I was the one who said big deal and you seemed to have quoted that part.
Kira. I got what you were saying, but Kira hit a sore spot (which I'm guessing was his intention).
Agreed. Obvious 'monster that lives under a bridge' is obvious.

In other news, not all that interested in the concept of this DLC >.>

can't say I hate it though either

So wait, let me get this straight.

EA, what you're proposing here is a DAY ONE DLC, which consists of TWO MAPS, which costs TEN DOLLARS, where you are advertising it on SEPTEMBER ELEVENTH as being able to KILL BIN LADEN, except you actually CAN'T kill him, they're just pseudo-related real life areas in Pakistan, and to top it all off, you're only going to donate ONE DOLLAR per sale to the veterans that you're supposedly honouring by this DLC, and worse, the money is only going to AMERICAN military charities even though this game is shipping worldwide?

And you think this is a GOOD IDEA???

Classy move, EA. Classy. All you're missing is forced Origin DRM and this is a perfect shitstorm. Oh but I assume that will be the case for PC anyway.
