DLC rage?

So i dont know about you other PS3 users but yesterday i checked the marketplace for the much anticipated MW2 Stimulus Package, after being slightley annoyed that infinity ward had only bothered to think up three new maps and reuses two old ones i checked the price only to find that for.

Three New Maps
Two Old Ones
No new weapons
No new game modes
No new perks
No New spec ops missions

I was expected to fork out £10.00.......

Just let that sink in

So what do you think about MW2's stimulus package

And also when has DLC annoyed you

Another example is how in L4D one, all the patches and updates stoped the multiplayer being a terifing team based game, and instead underpowerd the infected and overpowered the survivors...although the melle timer was a welcome addition.....

I think that people should stop making threads about them not liking the prize of a DLC they don't have to buy.

Especially since it's already been done so many times.

Seriously, this is really old news and it's been complained about to death.

Simple. I refused to buy the MW2 DLC. Nothing more to say about it.

I don't want to spend £5, let alone £10, for something that's likely over in an hour or two or is merely aesthetic AND takes up space on my hard drive.

To that end, i just don't buy / download any DLC period - but it frustrates me even more since getting achievements and a high gamerscore matter to me. I can't 100% a game anymore because of some stupid sodding DLC i have to download.

Do away with DLC!

dlc can be free look at valve who have been giving us free dlc(not on xbox though)
but paid dlc should not exist we should only have free dlc

I've never bought any DLC. I may end up buying L4D2 for PC so I can get the Passing though...figured out how to get easy access to steam whilst at uni at last.

...wait? are we on about the same L4D? Cause the infected were never underpowered, hell a lot of the patches were actually fixing issues with the infected and making them more effective. Also - how do you go from going on about moaning DLC to moaning about fixes?

I'll get DLC if I like the game enough. I won't be downloading the MW2 stimulus pack (I didn't know it was a tenner, am shocked!). MW2 is an OK game, I chuck it on and have a blast of it for an hour or so with 2 of my friends but I don't think the game is special. I feel the opposite, I think the game is just a re hashed MW and the MP mode is terrible, no dedicated servers and no ability to filter out playing the maps I don't like it. Because of it's very annoying failigns I won't be giving mw2 my pennies. It takes me 1.8hours to earn a tenner!

TLDR? (Makes me wonder why I bother with alot of text...)

DLC doesn't annoy me however I'll only purchase DLC if I really like the game.

Valve don't offer DLC. DLC is optional, what Valve do is patch the game, which adds new stuff, whether you want it there or not.

Simple, I didn't buy a shitty game

No but really I felt ripped off when I bought the Burnout Legendary Cars DLC for 8 dollars that only consisted of 4 cars. Plus trying to navigate the god-awful EA store was impossible.

I think the entire PC gaming world saw that one coming when they announced that no, they would not be allowing player run servers, or custom maps, or player control of any kind.

Maybe now all the people that said PC players were just raging and getting in the way of progress have discovered the reality of the situation. That this and all the fantastic 'services' provided to MW2 players since release was a huge, confident leap backwards for gaming in general. So very glad I didn't buy that steaming pile of...


Anyway, DLC in general I don't et mad about, it's either free, good enough to justify the money, or it isn't. The MW2 only annoys because it's so loudly proclaimed as some kind of positive.

If we had free DLC, there would be no motivation for making it in the first place. Making DLC does actually take time (gasp!) and money which the company could be better off allocating towards other projects, like a new game coming out soon. Tbh they should stop making 'half-finished' games that they feel they need to top up with DLC in the first place.

Also DLC will never be free for xbox. The reason for stuff like The Passing being free for PC and not Xbox was that M$ said "anything that comes with achievements has to come with a price tag." I don't have the source of that quote but i've definitely heard it before. Valve weren't to blame there, it's damn Microsoft. I suppose achievement whores won't even care about the cost if 100%'ing the game is important to them though, and M$ know it.

thats too bad for xbox owners(me included) sometimes having free dlc is nice and gamers will appreciate the gesture(at least some will) this helps to build a loyal fanbase and occasional free dlc for easier stuff(with no acheivements attached) to make and paid dlc for large expansions.

althought it still costs them money it will cost them even more money when their dlc are a complete rip-off and makes them lose fans.

The Warhawk DLC pissed me off.

When it came out i wasn't old enough to have a credit card. I was willing to pay for it but i didn't have the ability to.

So i didn't, and after about a month i had trouble getting into games anymore. Most games were for the new maps only. So i stopped playing.

I really really liked warhawk. It was something i looked forward to playing after work or school. So i felt kinda screwed over. Now a days i don't really care about DLC. I have a credit card and PSN money cards are in Canada now. I still haven't bought the DLC for warhawk though. I walked away from the game entirely. If any DLC comes out now and i want it I'll buy it up. There are worse things i could waste my cash on.
