Do all Marvel Mutants really have the same power?

Okay, So it is entirely possible I watch too many Youtube videos [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GMnsZuEE_m8&list=PL8D17C3F1E4DD2126&index=19&feature=plpp_video] trying to give out simple explanation's for complex topics but while watching 2000's X-Men a though occurred to me;

At a fundamental level all the marvel mutants powers seem to be explainable by manipulation of the Electromagnetic force.

Yes yes I'm crazy, but think about it for a moment with out dismissing it entirely.

Telepathy: Changes in the EM field the brain puts out can accelerate learning and help change behaviours possibly even cure Epilepsy, we are even developing machines that can read peoples minds from the same effect.

Intangibility: "magnetism" or more precisely the electromagnetic force give the illusion of solidarity, manipulate it correctly and you should be able to slide though the space that's there. In my head anyway.

Heat/fire, Cold/ice, flight etc all do able manipulating the EM force.

Could humans really do it? no, to much energy required, hence machines here but then the comic book worlds have never really paid attention to little concerns like "not enough energy"

So, agree? disagree? Love bacon?

How do you explain abilities like Wolverine's or Sabretooth's in terms of magnetism? What about Mystique, Nightcrawler and Angel who have physical mutations? I think your theory is way too simplistic.

And I'm guessing Angel's wings and Nightcrawler's blue skin are a manipulation of electromagnetic force?

Well angel's flight certainly, since those wings as depicted couldn't lift a human not does he have the altered musculature to power them. Regeneration that rapid clearly needs an outside force to attain it since even things like salamanders that can regrow limbs take months to do so.

I will admit, it's totally unsuitable for more superficial features like blue skin or wings.

What about Toad's tongue? Or Blob's... blobiness?

You could say it's all electromagnetism, but if you're getting that deep into physics, what else could it be? What superpowers can you come up with that use gravity, or the strong and weak nuclear forces?

I guess "gravity man", or "fusion man"...

Yeah, as long as there isn't a gravity manipulation guy, or a fusion guy, "it's all electromagnetism" is pretty simple, but also broad enough that I don't see the point. It's kind of like saying "they're all superhuman abilities".

Deadpool is not a mutant.
Fuck. I knew that. Why did I include him? It's late okay =(

Ok, I clealy need to go back to Science class I didn't understand all of it in that youtube video.
Ok I guess Cyclop is apply to that electromagnetic force since his eye blast is called photon blast (video mention photon.

Still would the electromagnetic force still apply to these mutant (that others may not heard of) like-

Husk (she can shed her skin to reveal a new element based skin.)
Beast (Blue fur and has animal like traits and apperances.)
Domino (Luck alteration.)
Cypher (pretty much a univeral translator.)

You know, it's kinda hard to agree or disagree since you haven't actually explained anything with enough detail to work with. You've pretty much just said "Mutants all have the power to manipulate Electromagnetic Force because... Electromagnetic Force".

The tongue thing is weird and frankly again way out side what is biologically possible (The fuck does he store a tongue a much as 10 times his own body length) so anything else could be made to work as an explanation.

Again it's the same thing with the blob, something else has to be powering him otherwise he would have just collapsed under all the mass.

Nightcrawler and Mystique's powers aren't their physical mutations, rather teleportation and shape shifting, Powers are not the way they look.

Gravitation is too weak and possibly not a force so much as a by product of something else (curvature of space/time) the weak and strong forces too close range and specific in effect. The EM force is the one that worms it's way in to the gaps so it seems to me. It is the one that works the most on our scale.

Pure speculation of course.

My bad, The powers listed in the OP are all resultant effects (In my argument) of the EM force.

Apply it in the correct manner and you get the effect, even in our world we are able to utise the EM force to produce the same effects such as cooling things with laser pulses, generating plasma for the ignition of fusion with laser pulses, trains flying along on the repulsive effects of electromagnets and latering brain function with electric feilds.

lasers being made up of photons which are apparently the force carrier for the EM force.

Also, this is a bit of fun by a bored geek on the internet, it's not correct because the comics where never written with a frame work in mind, It was just an interesting idea I had while watching a movie as to how most of them could work, possibly the result of to many over simplified videos on the topic of fundamental forces in nature.
