And that is why they work for us and become our food.Limasol said:.....animals don't because they dont have the brain power to understand things as fully as we do, and so live simpler existences.
I like your definition and I concur. What I believe as "God", "soul" etc. isn't a mainstream secular view, but I'm not gonna go into my confusing and ever evolving belief system, I'll try to stick to the question. Although this really makes me feel guilty eating fish and fowl. Every living thing has a spark of the divine, and I guess that includes plants, and we've got to eat, and the circle of life thing will keep rolling, so I guess that makes up for it. *dizzy, having gone full circle in argument* @_@Ridergurl10 said:I can't imagine anyone who has spent a lot of time with animals not thinking they had souls. I define a soul as what makes us who we are (maybe that's not everyone elses definition, but I'm sticking with it). All animals I've ever dealt with have had their own individual personalities, so yes I believe they each have a soul.
Agreed. Humans=animalsavykins said:Well. If humans have souls then animals must too.
*Sigh* I dont like posting on these threads because I always get flamed, but here I go anyway.gupy77 said:In my religion class my teacher was talking to the class about how humans are speicial and how animals are insignificant creature just there so we can have a large menu to choose from. So i spent about half an hour argueing with him. His primary argument was that animals dont have souls and god only gave souls to humans.
Just to be clear I dont want this topic to end up a debate on religion vs atheism i just want to know your opinion on if animals have souls.
Your avatar was my previous wallpaper. Just thought I'd throw that out.gupy77 said:-snip-
Animals don't need any reassurance that death is not a good thing; they don't make up 10,000 instances of a concept to comfort themselves.gupy77 said:In my religion class my teacher was talking to the class about how humans are speicial and how animals are insignificant creature just there so we can have a large menu to choose from. I agree. I have three cats and their personalities and manerisms are so different, for me to think they don't have souls would be madness.Ridergurl10 said:I can't imagine anyone who has spent a lot of time with animals not thinking they had souls.
