I have been indifferent to halo 3 and didn't buy it in the end thanks to obnoxious gamestop ads that made it overseas thanks to blip.tv.
I don't even play online but fuck that power armor preorder crap.

Also remember this?
This almost made me not buy links awakening.
I actually wish that they made more commercials like this nowadays.

OT: Ty the tasmanian tiger:
I at the time I thought he had mortally wounded Sonic,Spyro and Crash and thought "what kind of hero would do that!?" and vowed never to buy those his games even if they were good

I have not bought Dead Space 2 due to their "Your Mom hates this game" commercial. If it's aimed at adults, that's just stupid that you think my mother is influencing what video games I'm buying. If it's aimed at kids, that's just wrong due to it being a M rated game. No matter which way you go with it, stupidity rules.

Seriously EA, you set back gaming culture a few years with that commercial...
Really? Thats why you didn't but it? Or was it really because your mom would hate deadspace 2 ? XD

OT: i am immune to adds , i really did wonder who were these people being influenced by ads , then i met my girlfriend ... True story .

All the time.

I dislike the image and stereotypes associated with 'Axe' products, so I make a point not to purchase them. The same would be true with what is probably hundreds of products/t.v shows and movies.

This is not to say that I'd specifically boycott these things. If it was the only convenient and affordable option of the given product, than I'd buy it rather than deliberately place a burden on my life to work around it.

Those trident gum commercials. "Nobody pays me in gum". Oh, how fucking sad. They just pay you in money, money which you could probably spend on a handtruck of the damn stuff if you wanted. I may like orange crush, but I want to be payed in money, thank you.

And then there's this ad that was JUST on about a minute ago. The M&Ms brown shell ad where a guy keeps laughing because he thinks this female M&M with a brown shell is naked, and it ends with the red M&M taking off his shell and dancing. It's not annoying, but it's bad.

Doctor pepper 10. This is one of those commercials that plays all of it's prejudices completely straight while pretending to be ironic, but failing and making as insulting as it's pretending to be. It basically tries to say that the only things men like in movies are jungle combat scenes with vehicle chases. It insults the crap out of our intelligence, which is why I have no problem declaring that doctor pepper 10 is not my soda.

Just today I saw a bottle of 'Dr. Pepper 10' or something, and I considered getting it, but then quickly remembered the retarded misogynistic ads they ran for it, and decided 'you know what, I'm not gonna buy this, just because of these shitty ads'

It's not even that good anyway. It has a really weird aftertaste to it. :x

Seven words: "Bucky Larson: Born To Be A Star"

That has got to be the most annoying commercial for a movie I've ever seen. Not that the movie itself was any good.

Yeah... ads for most things annoy the shit out of me, so most of the time i'll mute ads and do my best to not take anything in from them... and if an ad does manage to get through to me and it annoys me i'll do my best to not buy the product.
Oh god, agreed, to both.

"I just sold my car! Quick, quick!" I'm going to shove his car up his ARSE. I also dislike the woman who says "trouble-free! Hee hee!" She looks so smug I want to punch her. I will never, ever sell a car to them.

After all the adverts for it, I'll never be claiming for PPI off ANY of the companies who do the adverts. They're unbelievably irritating. I'm going to find a small, reputable company who has never used TV advertising if I ever have to claim any back.

Vauxhall, no matter how hard you try, I will not buy your crappy cars.
Neither will I buy a camera/smartphone that's supposedly all about "independence" or "pretty faces" when you keep ramming the advert down my throat. I don't even remember what the phone one is for, possibly Android, but it literally is everywhere and its reinforcing my belief that they are a waste of money; 99% of their features I will never likely use!

Freeview box: £40

A tv license: £100+

A good television: £250+

Pressing the mute button during adverts: Priceless

For everything else, there's the internet.

I rarely watch broadcast television anymore. Not even the BBC, which has no adverts. But I generally hate most broadcast adverts with a passion, they're manipulation pure and simple, and I don't trust anything they say.

Yeah musical ads are one of the few things that trigger violent thoughts for me, every time i hear that song i just want to break something :(

also just a heads up, you dont need to go to ANY company to claim PPI, its a scam. You can do it just by contacting your bank i think. The PPI companies basically are just there to take a cut of your money.

The recent conversion of the Escapist website to the Space Janitors website has been reminding me of all the times I've been irritated enough by ads to avoid what they were selling. For instance, I still don't know what Head On actually does because I know their ads are designed to make me find out what it is, and I feel like I'd be rewarding obnoxious behavior by fulfilling their goal.

For the same reason, although I would have rarely bought a Slim Jim anyway, I won't even consider it now after the ads they had on this site.

Home Depot once filled every commercial block with the same commercial while I was watching one of my favorite shows online for a few weeks, and made themselves a choice of last resort for my hardware needs. I live in an apartment. I don't give a shit about your gardening sale. I just want to watch my show, and all you're doing is getting between me and it. I've seen this commercial 20 times in the last hour, and the 21st isn't going to do any more than the first. In fact, it's only making you look like more of an asshole.

Anyone else here do the same?
Actually, it was Home Depot's shitty service that put me off from using them. However, commercials have indeed made me LESS inclined to make use of their products for various obnoxious reasons. This occurs to the point ehere I have forgotten exactly what they were and why I hate them.

I don't think you're alone on that thought! Oh, the rage I feel when annoying ones come on!

And ooh, that's good to know. I had a marketing call on my phone a few days ago wanting to claim back PPI on a loan I've never had and wanted 30% plus VAT of the result... Erm, no thanks!

YES! I HATE advertising! I hate it with a firey passion. So the likelyhood of me buying a product/service is inversely proportional to how much it's shoved down my throat via advertising plus other deciding factors.

Any drug ad that just shows insanely happy people that goes on about how it 'changed their life' despite never actually describing what said drug does. To be fair most of those are for anti-depression medication but some are vague to the point of stupidity.

Also Space Janitors, just because every time I tried to scroll on the sides of this site for a week BAM! Annoying ad.

Finally, the Canadian Tire guy from long ago, but then Rick Mercer mocked the hell out of him:

None in particular come to mind that were for something that was aimed at me. But I usually don't pay attention to ads, wether it be streamed video on the web or on the television I usually distract myself with something else, read a couple lines from a book, a little exercise, grabbing a snack, etc.

But I can say that I LOATHE Axe ads. It's for men not women, I know, but when I was in middle school and high school those ads made those boys lay it on so thick it made me nauseous at three yards. Even today the scent makes my stomach turn with its strength at times. Chances are if I'm dating a guy and he wears Axe I'll likely be asking him to consider switching to another brand.
