Reward points... I wasted more money today on the premiss that I will benefits from the reward points that I have cumulated over the past 10 months. Was it a good decision?

You see, I bought 2 nintendo DS instead on just one because my girlfriend wanted her own and since you can play without wifi connection on 2 DS with some games (New Mario Bro - Zelda Phantom Hourglass - Mario Kart) and that you get more reward points that day (20X bonus) I let go of my better judgement and spent like crazy. Money was no trouble but I dont like to waste my cash unless it's something I want/need.

Mario kart was always expensive for me... I dont know for you but in canada, unless you buy from untrustworthy sources, you pay $50,00 for this game. It was like this for more then 3 years and I dont even know why. Buying this item made my points jump to the highest reward value for this shop.

Tomorrow I will use all my points and make $200,00 in everyday goods that I need thus giving me more money for myself. In retrospective, it's the equivalent of getting 2 Nintendo DS for the price of 1 with a free game. Is this win?

Me too... it's like I spend money to earn back half of the money I spent... but I spent twice as more then I would normaly do in normal circumstances.

It made my girlfriend really happy and I didn't really do anything at all.

Edit: Also, I didnt notice that it was already 3am so today is yesterday and tomorow is today. Hope I didn't confuse you further.

This alone indicates that yes, this is full of win.
You got your gf a present for basically free, from the sound of it.
So yeah.

If I understand what you did, I admire your abuse of the system, and enjoy your effectively free stuff.

For all of you confused about all this let me explain in detail.

The reward card works like this: 10 points for each $1
First, I bought 2 nintendo DS at $135,00 (CAD) and there was the X20 bonus so I earned 54000 points plus the 3500 points just for getting the reward card for a total of 57500. Bought 3 games $30, $40 and $50 (New Mario Bro,Zelda Phantom Hourglass, Mario Kart respectively) plus a bunch of stuff like chips, soda, TP, detergent, dish soap, chocolate, energy drinks and milk ( At regular price ) for a period of 10 months and obtained the grand total of 75000 points.

It was supposed to be 150$ reward theres a bonus again and they up the reward $50 for the weekend only.

Easiest $200,00 I ever earned in my life.

I work in such a shop but I'm in Ireland so it'd be a bit of a travel.

No you did not 'win' anything.

You were persuaded to spend more than you would have otherwise in the belief that you would save money in the future. Unless the total value of money you spent to gain point was greater than the total value of the discount you received what you did was give the shop more money than you would have otherwise done if they did not have a 'points' system.

Shops want to take you money. 'Points' are just another method they use to get you to spend more than you normally would.

You're parents should be very disappointed in you for spending all their money.

I have to agree with GRoXERs on this one. If it made you're significant other happy, you hit the "auto-win" button.
Any extra you get from it makes it win+1.

Ummm...

Double Post?

Anyways, what can you do with the points? Can you like buy add-ons on like a marketplace?

If yes, I think its a win.

If not, well...screwed.

The independant computer shop near my grans has a reward system. After over a decade of me and my cousin getting stuff there I found out the other day that we have £180 worth of discount sitting on the account. Considering we only really used it on holidays, that's quite impressive!

I'm pretty tempted to get my next console that way.
