So i went and saw kick ass today, and i thought that it realy deserved its rating, some of the action was very bloody, and it had lots of swearing so it definately deserved it R rateing
But sometimes the video dosent deserve an R rating, or even a pg-14.
What movies were over rated? To have a rating worse than what its actually like?
which movies do you think as over rated?

I actually think a lot of films I see these days that pass as 15-rated have content that, when I was 15, would have earned it a big fat 18. If anything, most movies I see are rated too low.

I can't think of too many movies that were rated too highly. They generally do their job pretty well.

Games on the other hand...

Movies where all they do is talk. I mean, it's all they do, not like a Tarantino movie where they talk and then there's 30 seconds of violence. The only movie I could think of right now is Waking Life, which is rated R.

Well, you DO get to see a guy perform self-immolation, roto-scoped or not...still kinda falls in that "not for kids" category.

Terminator 2 was rated R, Sure there's violence and swearing here and there. But the violence its self was VERY PG-13.

James Cameron pulled a lot of strings to get Titanic into theaters with the knockers and a mere PG-13 rating. Think of all the money it would have missed out on if it had gotten the R-rating it would have had coming otherwise!

It does seem to be alot more relaxed nowadays, You only have to watch something like Rambo first blood, which was rated 18 when first released compared to something like 300 which was only a 15 and is considerably more violent.

Yes, but there's a difference. First Blood presents a much more realistic version of violence, not to mention in a more realistic context. This is what gets the Ratings Boards - they see any such presentation as being like a 'how-to' for the general public. This is also why films that have drug references get higher ratings than they really should.
