Calling a game that you never played dogshit is pretty asinine. There's no such thing as more of a game, every game is 100% of a game. The thread isn't about The Order, it's about any game regardless if it's 5 hours or 100 hours.Whitbane said:The Order 1886 is absolute dogshit and trying to defend the selling price is delusional. Gone Home was more of a game.

That's why GameStop gets away with selling used copies for $5 below retail because people will pay. eBay is so great because the seller doesn't get ripped off and the buyer doesn't have to pay GameStop prices.tilmoph said:Phoenixmgs said:Up to $46 currently:

... Holy hell! Never thought people were that crazy. 3 bids even! Welp, guess that answers my question.
You used The Order as an example in your first post, so I just responded to your question. If the game was 5 hours of the greatest gameplay to ever exist, randomized dozens of times to enable re-playability, then yeah it would be worth $60. But as it stands, it's 3 hours of cutscenes, and 2 hours of boring, generic walk-and-shoot seen in hundreds of other games.Phoenixmgs said:Calling a game that you never played dogshit is pretty asinine. That's a game that came out YESTERDAY. The game came out on the 20th, literally a day ago and in a day it's already lost 25% of its value. You can still rent it for less. There was no point in buying it to resell less than a week later.Phoenixmgs said:UsefulPlayer 1 said:I don't know how you're gonna get $40 back but good luck to you.Up to $46 currently:tilmoph said:Ok, this thread is 4 pages long, and I'm still lost on something; how are you getting $40 on a resale? I mean, if the game was really good and had lots of demand, sure, maybe. Like at least a 4/10 chance of pulling that off. But for a meh game that everyone knows is meh, who the hell is paying $40 for it? Especially if quite a few other people are doing the same thing after a 2-4 day period.

Funny enough, I did a bunch of "research" and did exactly that before I realized that we're not being listened to anyway so why bother. What I found was that most 3 month games (I used Assassins Creed, Halo Master Chief Edition, and Dragon Age Inquisition when I looked; all three were released in November); you know what I found?Dirty Hipsters said:That's a game that came out YESTERDAY. For all the times you've said in this thread that this isn't about The Order 1886 and that you're using it as a worst case scenario you're really pushing to use it in every single one of your examples.
Since you've claimed that you can get $40 for a game MONTHS after its release lets see you put your money where your mouth is. Show me an ebay bid for $40 for a mediocre game 3 months after its release.
Some people like cutscenes and a game that's cinematic, which is why games like Heavy Rain, Telltale games, etc. exist. Boring, generic, etc. are subjective. Jim Sterling called Vanquish boring.Whitbane said:But as it stands, it's 3 hours of cutscenes, and 2 hours of boring, generic walk-and-shoot seen in hundreds of other games.
Plus, you don't need to play a game to know that it's awful.
1) The auction isn't over and it's USED copy, not a new copy. New sells for more $$$.Dirty Hipsters said:That's a game that came out YESTERDAY. I'm not going to do eBay again because that takes a lot longer to look through but I assure you that the numbers were relatively close to Amazons
