I noticed, getting trolled once, that I was really angry, as was their aim.
I wanted VENGENCE! Like any other human being would.
But I couldn't get back at this troll directly, so I went and trolled some other people who I thought deserved it, thus, my conscience settled.
I never felt bad about it, I just forgot about it and moved on.

I do not wish to do that again.

Does this happen to everyone?
And is trolling therefore an infectious spread of hate, powered by natural human reaction?

It might be Naive, because this is only from personal experience.
Also, I know if they were completely like zombies trolls wouldn't stop being trolls, but I couldn't think of a better analogy.

Yeah sure, if a person wanna let of some steam I guess go and pick a fight or tease/bully someone will relive some of that. Then the annoyed persons might want to take their feelings out on someone else online or just go and start beating up their family members.

I see trolls more like pyromaniacs.

It only takes one douchebag with a lighter to set a forest on fire, and they only need to light one tree to start it all off. If a single poster is angered by a troll's comment, he can set god knows how many other posters into furies of their own, who then each spread rage to others around them. The only way to prevent the anger is to give it nowhere to spread to; if no-one responds to that initial spark then you're all well and good, but the moment someone does the whole thing can get completely out of hand.

There's my own extended metaphor for you.
