Hehe, the comments about Koreans are pretty funny. There are actually 2 television channels here that are pretty much dedicated to showing "pro" Starcraft games. The guys in the pro leagues are very good at that game.

About the xenophobia from video games. If I'm ever walking through a small town in the US, then suddenly I am teleported to a world made out of chain-link fences, with faceless hot zombie nurses...well, I'm gonna use my board with a nail in it to lay down some beats with out trying to strike up a conversation first.

And space aliens with lots of teeth. They are also on the list of "Things not to strike up a conversation with".

After playing WWII FPS's for sometime, I still view all the cultures shown in said games the same as I did before I started playing them. I know that the people you shoot in such games are only 1's and 0's, and also the people from those countries shouldn't be blamed for something that happened 60 plus years ago.
The world has changed, and, by the sounds of it,this is something that the friend of the OP should remember...
So for me, gaming has definately not caused xenophobia or racism of any kind.

I like to think I'm open minded as a person so I personally haven't found myself becoming any more hateful or paranoid of other cultures as a result of playing games.

Actually...I still maintain as certain disliking of the USA despite having to play as an American protaganist 85% of the time.

So that's where my hatred for everything different from me came from......Videogames

Why did I always have to be the Demo-man in TF2.

Okay, I think that your friend got a little bit TOO into the game. Immersion is one thing, but that's creepy.

Hmm depends on the game; dawn of war can make you pretty xenophobic if you play as space marines.
Listening to the following quotes over and over as you order units around is tantamount to brainwashing in my opinion:

"Cleanse, Purge, Kill!"
"Purge the mutant, the alien, the heretic"
"Burn the heretic, Cleanse the mutant and purge the alien"
"Suffer not the witch to live" (I realise thats a bible quotation originally)
"I will destroy their minds and burn their bodies"
and others in the same vein.

As for whether you friend is in this case brainwashed to be xenophobic? No he has just been conditioned to shoot without thinking in response to the trigger of German sounding words which is in fact far scarier than xenophobia (which means the person actively thinks about disliking a foreign thing).

1. Your freind needs professional help.

2. I have become very racist against Goomba's.

I wouldn't even share a cafeteria table with this guy. You know he just came over from the other dimension to take our jobs.
I'm the same way with turtles that walk upright...
What if they are ninjas? That seems like an exception.
