I always keep my starter, but alot of times he becomes my "ace in the hole". My starter always tends to be a few levels higher than either the gym or area I am at so I use them in the "Oh shit" times.

Well, I have habit of turning them into my secret weapons. It's probably not a very good plan, but shut up.

Yes, they are part of my idea to get one of each element of the starters IE: one fire one grass one water.

Since I have them for the longest period of time they are the strongest, so yes.

For the most part, yes. Once I've aced the game (or the game fails to offer new challenges) I'll use it as necessary. I love all my Pokemon equally though so I don't really play favorites...

Well, I don't play favorites with anyone other than Zapdos :p

I like to keep my Charizard around. I've actually been transfering it between games since Pokémon Red so i can't bare the thought of storing it away.

I would hope that my answer is the same as everyone elses: Absolutely.

The starter is there for that reason: He/she is your starting Pokemon. They're supposed to be there to get you started and help you rise to fame and fortune.
But once you begin battling competitively you'll probably abandon it because there will be better options. However, sometimes you really do want that Blakizen as a sweeper or that Infernape as a beat-machine. It's all a matter of preference. But yeah, I absolutely keep my starter with me.

Of course I do. :D Cuz it's like the first best friend I get in that game so I tend to stick with it, and it usually pulls through for me in battles. :]

Um.. why? Usually it's the strongest grass/electric/water/fire available for 2/3rds of the game... why would I abandon it to a smelly ol' box?

I generally do. The starters are usually some of the storngest pokemon in game, stats wise. And since I am not a competitive battler, I don't need to worry about EV's and such.

always keep my starter since after i defeat the elite 5 (because you ALWAYS have to fight the champion after the four i just count the champion as the fifth) she's about level 80 and by other Pokemon are about level 50 if that because I'm to lazy to train them. plus since i spend like 10 minutes making sure the dang thing is a girl so i can breed it makes me have a little more connection then the Pokemon that i throw a ball at to catch.

The fire starters tend to be the best in the game; as such, they are the ones I pick and keep.

The water starters aren't that bad, either.
