Yes. I think not playing it is an insult to the developers by not playing half of their game. Oh well, to each their own.

That article saying that over half the people not playing CoD4's campaign. Come on! It had *insert CoD4 fanboyism*.

Single player first. Always. It teaches you how to play the damn game and hold you own against the pros that you inevidently meet during your multiplayer career.

Case in point, my dad and I share Bad Company 2 (different personas, obviously). My dad jumped into multiplayer immeadiately and can't play for jack. Then when he watched me play he asks me lots of questions about how I did something, and I answer: learnt it from the single player.

I play single-player almost exclusively. The only time I really get excited over non-campaign modes is when a game has bot-matches. To date, Duke Nukem 64 and Gears of War 2 are the only two games that were able to satisfy my love of the bot match. I really hope Halo 4 has bot matches...Or MW3. I'd grab MW3 (hell, any shooter really) on launch day if I knew there would be a bot-match mode.

I rarely buy games for the multiplayer component anyways, but the few times that I do I play single player first. I think of it as training for several reasons. The multiplayer maps are often lifted or ripped straight from the single player, so I'll know ahead of time what the maps are like. Learning what the weapons are and how to control your character properly is a good idea.
