Their are many possibilities, the most likely being that you were on the mend anyway, and just happened to coincide with you deciding to tank your illness.

Occam's razor, why select the explanation with the most assumptions, and least probability?
Fuck antibiotics. Seriously. I'd rather break something from trying too hard than take a pill to solve all of my problems.

Think about it this way. If I had just blindly followed conventional knowledge and taken the pill, then I would have had no chance of realizing that I didn't have to either of those things.

Most scientific breakthroughs were accomplished by scientists inventing new theories for why things work. I'm not saying I'm the next Einstein or Newton, I'm just saying that sometimes you have to work from nothing to accomplish anything.

Oh that's right, I forgot that spiritual and paranormal forces don't exist and have never done anything. Must suck to live in your world...
Same world you live in. Until the spiritual and paranormal can actually be explained in rational, structured experiments, and "psychic ability" can be replicated, it's all hokum.
Arguably we all live within our own personal worlds with their own events and rules, but I digress.

If you refuse to accept even the possibility that there's more than science and logic then you're missing out on some really rad shit. That's all I meant.

I fail to see why you feel the need for there to BE anything else. Isn't the physical universe enough without, let's not pull any punches, fairy stories?
I fail to see how you can say that because there is no evidence means that its 'hokum'. It was once though that the world was flat even though it was acually round.

Do I believe in ghosts or the paranormal?
Fuck no!
Btw if anyone's "soul" is missing, help is available!

When most people hear the term Soul Retrieval, they comment that they didn't realize that a soul could get lost! Soul Retrieval is a term for an energy technique which uses internal pictures to find and retrieve pieces of energy which are needed for whole functioning of the mind and spirit.

Soul Retrieval is an ancient Native American practice. If a physical accident or emotional trauma has caused part of the soul to become lost, a ceremony may be done to sing the lost piece of the soul home.

Soul Retrieval is based upon these shamanic healing beliefs. The technique is adapted to the modern world and retrieves memory traces which were too traumatic for the mind to accept at the time they occurred. Internal pictures are set in by the healer to make the memory safe so that it can be accepted and the energy behind it is retrieved.

Some individuals find that missing memories are fully or partially restored. For others the memories are not restored but there is a sensation of pressure being relieved at a deep emotional and spiritual level, with corresponding positive behavior changes.

This is not recommended for serious psychological disorders. Please consult a licensed psychologist if you have a history of mental dysfunction or if you are self-destructive or considering suicide. This technique is not applicable where drug usage or alcohol abuse are present. Soul Retrieval is considered a tool for individuals who are mentally healthy but wish to improve the general quality of their lives.
ROFLMAO!!

Why don't I believe, for the same reason I'm an atheist.
It does not make sense:
An "supernatural" explanation makes as much sense as goddit!

@Aqua Trenoble 2 questions:
1)Why Oh Why has your mother NOT taken the James Randi Challenge?
2)Can she cure amputation? If not why not?

Now if someone can show robust credible proof of "supernatural" powers, happenings, then you can colour me a believer.
For those who do believe I suggest some Penn and Teller with a sprinkling of Derren Brown or vice versa.

Ok let me put it this way.

Prove it.

Any of it.

Prove to me that anything you care to describe as "supernatural" actually exists. Write out an experiment.

The world was proven round.

I'm waiting on something to be "proven" paranormal.

I am timing you.

You had no potential to break anything, doing nothing is a valid treatment for the condition you had. A doctor should have told you the same thing.

Sir, I take grave offence to "trying". Sure, I can't "perceive" Infra-red light. It's ALL AROUND US. However, there are rational, empirical, REPEATABLE tests to prove it's existence.
Fine! I've been fucking proven wrong! Does it even matter? You're still the same person you were three minutes ago and I still live in a world of endless possibilities. Bravo! You accomplished absolutely nothing, while I at least (hopefully) got you to shut up.

1. Probably because she, like me, doesn't give half a damn what you think.

2. You fucking know why not. You can't goddamn "cure" amputation, save through miraculous healing or limb replacement. You're just trying to appear clever. Emphasis on trying.

I find it hard to believe in because the amount of obviously fake stuff people come out with. My mum is convinced that her dead mum is in her radio because she told a psychic that her radio is playing up one time and a few appointments later she was told her mum haunts her car. She still doesn't believe me when I say its the radio and it doesn't help things that her car started failing a while ago.

What condition did I have? I'm rather curious about the results of your ability to diagnose me over the internet.

I still see endless possibility in the current universe, sunshine. I mean, sure, I'm flattered to think that you think that I know everything that there is to know about the universe. Who knows, I just might. (Hint: I don't)

However, shit's out there with explanations.

You said you had Swollen Lymph Nodes, so I'm working under the assumption you had Swollen Lymph Nodes. :p

Obviously not, since you don't seem to see the possibility that I'm not full of shit.

Must...resist...obvious answer.

It's not always about you. I asked the universe.

You try NOT believing in that sort of thing when your mother is a honest-to-god psychic witch (sorry, MEDICAL INTUITIVE) and has been making decent money on repeat clients for 20 years. I'm not even kidding, if there's good, reliable money in telehealing then there must be something to it.
It is called gullibility. Look at Homeopathy. People will believe anything.
OP: Used to, as a kid. I got better.

Why can't anyone fucking READ? I had things other than swollen lymph nodes. You really think I'd be pissed off enough to will myself back to health over something as trifling as a few sore lumps?

1)Winning the James Randi Challenge would net her an amazing amount of free publicity and recognisation, just think of all the people she could help if we could replicate her "healing powers"!
Imagine how much money she would make!
Or is she not interested in helping others, or money?

2)Ah I get it, she can only "heal" what the body can heal on it's own!
Why can't her healing power regrow limbs? Is this a "scientific" limitation, or just a bloody obvious scamming the gullible limitation???

Studies of hospital patients receiving energetic healing have shown that the energy is intelligent,
If the energy is intelligent why can't it regrow limbs? Does it communicate this limitation to your mother or the patient? What was the basis for the determination that the energy is intelligent?
What sort of intelligence level is it?
What is it's I.Q?

Does anyone else find it weird that none of these miraculous healers cannot regrow limbs?
What do these healers have against amputees?

You realise that even the Flu goes away on its over over time.

Most non-life threatening conditions will simply be fought back by your body, most treatment is just to remove the symptoms so you can get back to your life while your body recovers.

I'm gunna step out of this discussion now anyway, it's no fun if you just get angry.

To be honest, I think that half of the time she only is in her line of work because she's forced to either use her powers or fuck up electronics in proximity to her. Her work has all the emotional and mental strain of being a psychologist with the added benefit of people constantly questioning your credibility.

I never said that she couldn't heal anything that the body can't. From what I understand, what she really does is help the body heal itself. It's not my area of expertise, however, so I'm afraid you'd have to continue perusing her website or ask her yourself to find the answers to your questions.

I agree, it isn't any fun. Though I wasn't really angry at you, just annoyed that no-one reads what I say before deciding to poke holes in me.

Thank you for withdrawing from the discussion, I'd like to do so as well but I'm always curious as to what people will say next.

OT: Nope, don't believe in spirits or the afterlife so no ghosts or anything either.
