i try not to have an apathetic disposition to media i don't like personally. example being i can admit call of duty 4 and black ops one are good (haven't played WaW, hear that's good too). but overall i don't like CoD due to it's multiplayer fanbase and the typical demographic for these games now.

but at this point, what sony and microsoft have to offer is not much at all really, and i doubt nintendo is gonna come out of the blue and say "LOOK GUYS. GAMES!!!" like most of tumblr believes.

so, yeah, as far as the next gen goes. not looking forward too it.

GTA V looks awesome though. if you don't think that i highly doubt you're telling the truth.

Literally every day of every week of every month of every year. That amount of cares I give about most AAA's is equivalent to zero. The only games I even get excited for these days are RPG's like Skyrim or Dragon Age. Persona as well, LOVE me some persona.

Otherwise, Gears of War? Nope. Call of Duty the reskin, nope. God of War? Don't care. Also just about every game that involves a male protagonist, because I hate male leads. Women sound better, look better and are just way more interesting.

I had this with Mass Effect 3. I'm one of those freaks who like the first one and the weird pseudo-rpg mechanics much better than the action focus in the sequel. Then I saw the crew selection for ME3, played the demo and just...eh, couldn't care less. I care about the story, the characters and I really love the universe the games take place in, but I just couldn't handle what in my opinion was a total mismanagement of the franchise. All my friends have played and talked about it and it looks like I'm never gonna play it. And I really don't care.

Definitely most of the time. Sturgeon's Law applies to everything, including video games... and especially AAA titles of this past generation (90% might actually be a conservative estimate).

To me, Videogaming has been polarized into games with interesting concept/setting/story, and games that focus on Gameplay. Games that focus on Gameplay bore the MF out of me, and I don't care about them at all. To me, gaming has always been an escape. And I don't want to escape to a place that has been refining the same kind of gameplay for 15 iterations. I want a new world I can live in, in the spaces between my 11 hour shifts and dealing with problems that my family should be able to solve without relying on their injured son/grandson/nephew.

So basically, 99% of FPS games I don't care about, sports games I don't care about, Diablo-style RPGs I don't care about, and all that.

I DO get excited about high-thought projects, about indie games that are trying to do something new (and not just trying to out-Braid "Braid.") and about almost anything turn based and sci-fi, fantasy, or spa-fa (Space Fantasy, which is like Star Wars, because it's not about science, it's about knights with laser swords in space. And that's a good thing for it.)

OH! And I am excited about light-hearted, colorful platform games, because they're like sitting on my old comfortable couch (back when couches were comfortable and not just decorative, damn it!) with a blanket and having some cookies and milk.

And now, off to one of those 11 hour shifts I mentioned.

Well there's so many games now it's hard to care about some 60 dollar release that's probably going to be crap.

I recently bought Bioshock Infinite, but otherwise i'm playing indie games, Team Fortress 2, and trying to stay interested in Guild Wars 2. I got infinite because it was the sequal to 1 and 2, but it was pretty forgettable. They took all the cool mechanics out of it and replaced it with generic garbage. OOOOH BOY regenerating shields where have I seen this garbage before? 2 weapon slots for boring samey generic weapons nothing like the ones in rapture. And the gameplay is more linear and about clearing rooms full of baddies that don't vary much. I liked the game, but I could have lived if I didn't fork over 60 dollars on day 1. It lacks replay value when there are tons of other games like it.

I can't be interested in new things when I want to play everything I have at once. I want to play Skyrim again, but my attention is being chronically diverted by all this other stuff.

It's probably a good thing when we're so occupied by good games that we no longer care when some AAA comes out that's probably crap. I wish I didn't pay 60 bucks for infinite, but whatevs. I see no game release I'm looking forward to, and in fact I'm looking forward to that Terraria update.

Edit: Forgot about GTA V, I want that.

It's been many years since I actually gave a shit about the game industry, usually I have like one game to look forward to, but most often I've got none.

The problem is a complete disconnection of interest between me and the market audiences. I hate games where you just shoot dudes and I get nauseous by the first person perspective, I'm bored with constant sequels and I'd rather play a game with all focus on fun gameplay than melodramatic storytelling. As you might've guessed, my interest with games is quite thin, since the entire industry is promoting all the things I hate the most.

My relationship with gaming news is sort of like somebody watching a car accident, sadistic delight.

I'm pretty sure I'll only really play indie and retro games the upcoming years.

I feel that way a lot. It takes a hell of a lot to get me excited about a game. A Valve, Doom, Fallout or GTA title will do it, but anything I'm unfamiliar with will take a lot of scrutiny and persuasion to get me interested.

Apathy is a constant for me. It's how I fight depression. I've managed to control it in a way that I'm able to get happy and excited about things, and at worst turn my sadness and disappointment into controllable, positively motivating anger.

That is actually a good thing. It means you have a taste and a means/ knowledge to seperate the good from the bad and not follow the next best whistle blower.
Games, Music Movies, Book, any media is 99.99% shit. The good stuff is rare.

The game has to convince ME that it's worth buying and playing not I have to persuade myself to like it.

Having said that I cannot care less about Hidden Object games, those Brown Shooters, Sports Games, MMORGs, XBone and PS4.

A lot of the not caring in this thread seems to be resentful or annoyed not caring("I don't care about shooters because I don't like them") instead of apathetic, "I just can't find it in myself to have any sort of opinion on this" kind of not caring("I don't care about shooters because they have no influence on me or what games I play"). Define your not caring, people! Or you could just not care about it... That works too.

When I hear my lecturers at uni talk about marketing, pr and how to make money on your games I just tune out and think, I just don't feel like I could ever care about this at all. It's just so far removed from why I want to be there and my (admittedly broken) relationship with money so I just can't find any meaning in it emotionally, even though I know it's logically a good thing to think like that if you're in business for yourself.

Have no interest in the Xbox what so ever. After the original Xbox graced our presence, I didn't really care. There was about 4 games on the original Xbox that I wanted to play, thats it. Really don't care that other gamers are upset with Microsoft. Every time somebody posts a topic of discussion about the Xbox, or about school, I flip it the bird. Don't even want to invest the small of energy it would take to even click on it.

I?m pretty much stuck a depressing ?fun deadzone? where barely anything entertainment-wise interests me anymore. Films, video games, books?the only thing I?m bothering to buy any more is Death Note manga.

My Xbox 360 just sits in my living room gathering dust?I can?t even remember the last time I played it, or the last time I even bought a game for it. And my most recent handheld console is my GBA SP, but by this point, I just don?t feel anything on a recent playthrough of my favourite game, Donkey Kong Country 2.

Maybe I?m just getting old.

I feel this way too! I tried to play Tomb Raider but just stopped at the very beginning because there was literally not a 5 minute gap that had no cutscene in it.

By contrast, I bought the Raiden Legends collection on GOG and I'm having a lot of fun with it!
