Well..considering the only time I have to play is after work, walking the dog, and eating dinner that usually rounds out to 8-9pm so by default I only play games when I'm tired...
I think it's a fine line but I am definitely a bit better when tired. If I'm fully awake it's hard for me to focus on the game but if I'm a little tired my brain isn't whirring all over the place so I have the ability to get into the zone and blow heads off but that's only for FPS's.
In RTS's I'm completely useless unless my brain is functional. The worst offender is Company of Heroes because there is so much to pay attention to and the game is so fast paced PLUS battles need to be micromanaged or else you risk losing everything to one squad of riflemen behind cover. Warhammer 40k I could play while tired but I didn't have that edge and DoW2 I could play in all stages because it was just so stupid easy.
