Simple question, but one I've not seen asked before.

Do you get angry when told to "shut up"?

I'll be honest, I get downright enraged when told to shut up.
Because some other person's gibberish is so much more relevant than mine?
Don't make me laugh so hard my soul could almost feel it.

Yes, yes I do. I can be quite indignant if I'm told to shut up so someone else can speak utter crap that I was halfway through explaining better than they did. Especially if I'm trying to argue a point against them, or against what they're saying and I have indisputable evidence, but I'm told to shut up before I get to it and they then continue talking about the stuff I was disputing.

well... im sort of socially retarded... i have a tendency to go on and on without even realising people have already moved on to a new conversation topic, so when people tell me to shut up i can appreciate it

I accept it when I'm rambling.

If in the middle of debate however...
I know about getting angry at someone telling you to shut up in the middle of a debate, but on the up side, you could take that as your cue to leave and save yourself wasting further time on someone who clearly doesn't care.

So, I take it people people who know you don't tell you to shut up, then...

Aye. I get really pissed off, and end up telling them to fuck themselves (or something to that effect). Luckily, when I'm pissed off, I tend to clench my fists and step just that necessary bit forward, so people usually back off. Or get into a fight. (haha, not true; I don't hit people unless they attack first)

My dad tells me to be quiet often and, yes it pisses me off.

Though I am a quite loud person :)

Well, I do get a bit angry when told by a person I don't like or when someone does it to then say something completely not related.

It's essentially like calling Marty McFly a chicken.
That's the most beautiful comparison I've heard at least this year. Well done. Here, have some Northern-Ireland liberty for that.

I don't like it very much, but I'm not "angry" about it. I just continue on with what I'm saying and add in that I don't like being interrupted when talking.

Nope, unless I'm already pissed.
I usually tell myself to shut up because I'm digging myself into a bigger problem.

Yes, in fact, I find it downright enraging. Considering that the only thing I value in myself are my opinions, if I'm told not to voice them, usually because someone else wants to spit casually chosen words at me, It's the closest I've ever come to physically assaulting someone over a verbal dispute. The one philosophy anyone could accuse me of ever living by is "If the only weapon I have is speech, I refuse to use it in whispers." People that know me are aware that, if they give forth to such utterances, they're putting themselves in physical danger....However, I don't get pissed if I'm just rambling, which I'm aware I do a lot of.

Depends how, what im saying, and by whom.

EG, if im making a point and someone says shut up because they disagree, I'll pipe up and get really argumentative.
If I'm rambling and not making sense, Ill try to rescue whatever obscure train of thought I am on and start making sense
If its my friends Il say something weird like "I like pineapples". etc

Nobody ever listens to me so if someone tells me to shut up I just keep going like they didn't even say it.
