I mean, do you seem to get really into gaming for a while... then shut down for a long spell... then had a mad gaming compulsion again?

For example, I was recently playing through older(ish) games...and a couple of recent ones... that I either never got round to playing at all at release, didn't finish when they was new, or just wanted to re-play.

Ripped through Bioshock, MW1, oblivion, mass effect, dragon age, then I was going through Fallout 3 at an alarming pace, finished main story started expansions..... and BOOM. I'm done... got in from work today... didn't want more fallout... couldn't manage any more than one match on any multi-player, don't wanna play any stupid "time killing" games.
I doubt I'll have the desire to play another game now this side of new year. Then I'll be back on it again like a mad man when I do pick up the next title.

It actually pisses me off that I get like this coz I end up with a big back-log of games I wanna play through before I play the latest NEW thing.

Anyone else get this or are you all glued to your pads/keyboards 24/7?

I get home from work, check emails, dick about a bit on escapist, and if I'm in the mood I play a quick round of something, lasts no longer than an hour. Some nights I just don't wanna play anything and just watch a movie or surf the internet.

I'll burn out certain games, and if I've got a long weekend I might get tired of sitting in front of my computer, but most of the time there's enough of a balance between school, social, and other things to keep me always wanting to play.

I used to.

Now to avoid it I space things out, and play a much greater variety of games. So I always have something to do.

I sure as hell get it with anime, but not that often with gaming. If I do, it's that game alone, but I'll move onto another game.

Excluding multiplayer games which I'm always up for, my entertainment habits tend to run in cycles. I generally spend time playing games, then after a while I'll get over them and move on to spending most of my time reading, and after that I'll end up reading manga and watching anime, and then it's back to games or books in a never-ending circle. The amount of time I spend doing each varies depending on my mood at the time, but it can be anywhere from a week, to a month, to a year that I'll spend most of my time devoted to one thing. Generally, it's a rather annoying cycle as it leads me to spend money on games/books/anime and then spend 6 months before actually doing anything with it because I felt like doing other stuff at the time.

I doubt I'd even bother buying games if it wasn't for the fact that they're a good way to speak to my friends. Like, I hate COD, the only reason I buy and play it is because my friends do. I get excited for very few titles, and I have little desire to play anything that is single player because they usually suck.

It's rare that I'll pick up an old game on my shelf and complete it, most games take me years to finish because I play them for 30 minutes every 4 months. That's why I like multiplayer, I can jump in for 30 minutes and have a laugh, and then switch it off. In fact, that's the reason I play MMO's.

I'm in that mood right now. It happens often because I don't buy many games and I'm usually playing the same stuff.

This has happened to me a lot, especially as I've gotten older.

I love video games, but sometimes I just don't wanna play them at all, even if I haven't beaten them. Like AC:Brotherhood.. I got it on release day, but I haven't gotten passed the second sequence. It's not that I don't like the game, it's just that I don't feel like playing. :/

i have to be in a certain "mood" for the certain game :p sometimes i feel like slaughter something it then has to be Painkiller etc., Strategy SC2, ETW. and RPG's... i could go on and on and on... :p i just have to be in a certain mood for that type of genre... but sometimes i just dont feel it for anything and end up watching anime or movies or other series
