Short answer: No
Long answer: Nooooooooooo....

Zero punctuation is in no way shape or form, a competent reviewer. In fact, what makes me laugh is how many people believe that he is, and will follow his opinion like a blind sheep. Saying that they won't buy such, and such a game, because yahtzee says it's a load of rubbish.

If you have always followed in Yahtzee's opinions, congratulations you've just missed out on some awesome games like Mirror's edge, and Valkyria chronicles (which was a completely biased opinion, due to the fact that yahtzee hates anime).

I would say for the record that i dislike most of yahtzee's favourite games (Dizzy the frikken egg, and Spiderman 2? you got to be shitting me!). I have my own opinions about games, and i don't distress in any shape or form, if he bashes a game i like. The thing that distresses me is how easy people follow his opinions, and not have their own mind about the game. Seeing all these comments on yathzee vids like "I'm not going to buy this game for sure!" leaves me with a huge lump in my throat.

Don't be a sheep, get informed, and do your research. Maybe you'll find the you're favourite game is one that yahtzee did not like.

One of the only one of the games he reviewed that I played was Pokemon Black (Be quiet they're interchangeable). I was laughing most of the time, and I am one of the nerdiest pokemon fans possible (only for the games don't even talk about the anime it's horrible). Then after I watched it I went right back to enjoying the game as much as before.

I am slightly upset if other reviewers trash a game I like, but Yahtzee's method seems to mainly accentuate the negative.

If I already own the game and i like it, it hardly matters what some Australian complaint machine says. He said he contracted to find flaws and nitpicks every tiny problem in a game so i don't think his reviews are meant to be taken too seriously. I mean go watch the smash bros. mailbag episode, he says outright his opinion shouldn't matter if you like a game. I will however admit that his opinion has influenced my game purchases before.

I don't care really. I mean, it is his opinion, my opinion is my opinion, they don't have to be the same.

Not really. Games are meant to be enjoyed. If I enjoyed Zelda: Phantom Hourglass or Portal 2, then I got my money's worth and that's that.

I have a Death Note. Yatzee does not say bad things about games I like.

That being said I find most of what he says to be accurate and unless he ends a review with oh my god this game will cause Mother Theresa to murder one thousand orphans I assume the game was okay. It's probably best (expecially with games you are going to buy no matter what he says) to not watch the video until you're already enjoying yourself. Same goes for the Movie Review guy though. If you're on the fence by all means listen first buy second. If you're gonna buy do it AND THEN listen. Otherwise from the opening of the game you'll be noticing that Bayonetta's legs are impossible and it will distract you from the fact that you're a sexy sexy witch taking out her BDSM pleasures on angels.

to be fair he said Dizzy isn't his favorite game in the XBLA double bill and only said spiderman 2 "excelled all expectation by being slightly good" for having one good feature.

Nah. I like hearing what he has to say. Even if I don't agree with it, I always laugh at his metaphors and similes. And if he ever says anything particularly cutting, I don't get upset. I just go, "...:( But I liked it..."

Nope, he had a top five list in one of his vids (forgot which one) which listed Spiderman 2, Prince of Persia Sands of time, Portal, Dizzy, and Silent hill 2 as his favourites.

Haha! Nope, the first review I ever saw of his was the Halo 3 one, which is one of my favourite games, so my first thought was; 'this gentleman and I don't see eye to eye'. I still value his opinion as someone who truly wants the best for the medium.

Are you kidding? He makes good points usually. And he's funny as hell to watch. I don't see that much else matters.

Do I get upset when he trashes a game that I like? Not in the slightest. Why? While I don't look to Yahtzee for information, I do look to him for entertainment. Which is pretty much all he's really good for.

Anyone actually using Yahtzee's reviews to inform their purchasing decisions is, well, doing it wrong.

Yahtzee's review persona is an entertainer first and a game reviewer 52nd, and a whole lot of other things in between.

I feel like when he hates on something, he just says the bad things about it, I like that, because when I hear a game review love on the game, I would have to check on his video about it before I try it out myself.

But when he complements a game, (Silent hill 2, Dead rising 2, Just Cause 2...etc.) I really have to try it out because feel like that rare!

Not really, Should I really be upset that a guy I've never actually met disagrees with me on the quality of a game? I dunno, sounds somewhat silly to me. I like his videos and articles though, and I especially like the games he's made.
