Inspired by an interesting discussion I had in one of my classes, I bring this question to everyone here - do you have a home?
Mind you, I don't mean a house, or an apartment, or a trailer, or anything like that - I mean a "home". It seems to me that when one examines the notion of "home", ideas such as safety, comfort, and love are rather prominent. A home has long been assumed to be a haven away from the drudgeries and dangers of everyday life. So, would you consider your house to be a "home"? Furthermore, does your notion of the "home" coincide with the characteristics I previously mentioned, or is "home" something different to you?
Personally, I'd consider my house to be rather home-y. I feel safe and comfortable here, and there is little to speak of in terms of conflict or hostility between me and my family. However, I know that's not always the case, and I'd be interested to see what other people's impression of the "home" is.
