Inspired by an interesting discussion I had in one of my classes, I bring this question to everyone here - do you have a home?

Mind you, I don't mean a house, or an apartment, or a trailer, or anything like that - I mean a "home". It seems to me that when one examines the notion of "home", ideas such as safety, comfort, and love are rather prominent. A home has long been assumed to be a haven away from the drudgeries and dangers of everyday life. So, would you consider your house to be a "home"? Furthermore, does your notion of the "home" coincide with the characteristics I previously mentioned, or is "home" something different to you?

Personally, I'd consider my house to be rather home-y. I feel safe and comfortable here, and there is little to speak of in terms of conflict or hostility between me and my family. However, I know that's not always the case, and I'd be interested to see what other people's impression of the "home" is.

Yes, my house is a home. If anything, too much so. I never want to leave it, and so I don't go out as often as I should, leaving me with a..less than vibrant social life.

*looks around my room*

Yes I do.

No really no matter what happens to me I can always come home to my room, turn up the music and rest in my bed, this is my sanctuary.

Yes, I do. Unfortunately, it's my parents' house and I live on a college Campus. Sniff, no one loves me here...

NO, but i do have a place to return to
A place to return to,
A place to return to,
a place to return to.

In all seriousness, yes, but my housemates suck.

Being at college, I would hardly consider my dorm room to be "home." Usually if I am there,I am either studying or simply have nothing better to do, it is not a place I ever go to on purpose.

My "home" is still my parents' house.

The only place I'd truly ever be at home is in a secret mountain cave in the Swiss alps.

University. Whenever I go there I know it's a place where I can speak my mind, and where I'm free to choose my future (admittedly it's at 15,000 bucks a pop, but shut up I'm trying to make a point here)

My room in my house is my home. Also, for ten months, a dormitory room in Minesawa was my home. And I actually miss that home a lot, as well.

For a wider perspective, I still consider both San Diego and Yokohama to be my homes.
