I was just sitting at my desk, trying to revise feeling bored when i thought of this thread title. just quite simply, do you have a role model? if so, who? it can be anybody, living or dead.
My role model would have to be WW2 fighter pilot ace Sir Douglas Robert Steuart Bader. I would say he is my role model mainly because his incredible arrogance and stubbornness and refusal to give in and take things lying down kept him alive throughout countless trials and tribulations of his life, for example when he lost both of his legs in a plane crash in 1931, then proceeded to fly throughout the second world war.

I would say he is a role model to me personally as i have had to endure quite a few medical conditions over my 17 years, for example at the current moment i am bald due to a stupid medical condition known as Alopecia, people do like to take the mickey instead of asking me about it, and its just something i'm going to have to live with, but i count myself lucky i haven't lost limbs like Douglas Bader and thats why he is my role model, i think we could all learn from his mindset that with the right mind and strength of will, nothing can keep you down :)

?Don't listen to anyone who tells you that you can't do this or that. That's nonsense. Make up your mind, you'll never use crutches or a stick, then have a go at everything. Go to school, join in all the games you can. Go anywhere you want to. But never, never let them persuade you that things are too difficult or impossible." (Sir Douglas Robert Steuart Bader) YES THIS SHOULDN'T BE UNDER "GAMING DISCUSSION" SORRY GUYS! :S

Yes, me!

No, but seriously, I don't have one particular role model.

I look at all historical figures and everyone I meet, take their good qualities and learn from that.

John 5, one of the most hard working guitarists there is. He's the very reason I still play guitar.

As a dude raised by a single mom, every moderately cool male on TV was my role model, growing up.
Especially Dr. Cox. I loved the shit out of Dr. Cox.

Nowadays, I am a bit too old for that stuff.
Doesn't stop me wanting to emulate House, though.

Kinda sorta. I admire quite a few people, but I have never, or would ever try to emulate any one of them, mainly because it diminishes my own worth as well as theirs. But there are two people in particular that I found fascinating enough to examine a bit closer, and perhaps adopt some of their ways of thinking. I am by no means well educated on their respective lives, but I do know a few things about them. So, the two people who are somewhat like role models to me are:
Richard Feynman and Paul Dirac; Feynman was...batshit, but in a good and inquisitive way. Dirac was an introverted academic, whose work extended over may fields.
(not that I could ever hope to come close to their achievements, but at least I can try to comprehend their works)

Julian is my role model.

jk, but I agree with what he said. except about historical figures, they're all lies, christopher columbus is portrayed as a wonderful man and hero in most history books.

That's why I take their good qualities only :D

I'm personally against having role models in general, i may admire or respect a man but making someone a role model is shaping yourself to be him rather than making you own path in life. When i die i'd prefer to know that i lived my own life with my own victories and my own mistakes and not just copied someone else's life ,badly at that.

Probably Geddy Lee from Rush, great bass player and song writer and nothing seems to get in his way like what other musicians do like drugs or money troubles.
