That fits me rather well.

I'd rather sit and listen, usually feeling like the odd person out for one reason or another. It's not really discomforting, but I suppose it could be to those that don't really know me. Though, I suppose it could be for those that do know me too.

I usually feel like that when I don't know anyone in a group. Last summer I went to a small party at my school friend's house, I didn't know anyone except for one girl who also goes to our school. I only hung out with her and didn't talk to anyone else. It's very hard for me to meet new people at parties or in large groups, but in small groups of 2-3 other people it's easy. It's kind of frustrating

However, it's these people that you want to continue to keep in touch with and be friends with. They can sometimes be your most reliable and trustworthy buddy.

Depending on the subject: Popular stuff of which I don't know anything about, I shut up and am that friend; Geeky subjects like PCs and games, I won't shut up.

I am that quiet friend that doesn't talk.
I won't talk unless there is something to say.

Ok, so you are out there chilling with your buddies or whatever, and you can't get the feeling right... something is wrong. You take 30 minutes to realize that one of your friends hasn't said anything this whole time, then you think back to previous hang out sessions and realize he said almost nothing then, and that he stands out so much from everyone else in your group.

Do you have friends like that? Friends that stand out from everyone else in the group?
hell, i AM that guy

i enjoy listening to people talk and i jump in from time to time and make people laugh

of course, if he looks moody, then yeah, i have a friend like that, he's a stalking POS who declares his love to every girl he meets in under a week (6 hours is the fastest time)
not kidding

I'm pretty eccentric so I'm usually the stand-out guy. Particularly at parties. It kicks ass.

OH yes. One of my friends can go through several conversations without uttering a word. I happen to know he hates it though. He goes mental when he drinks, it's the only time his inhibitions don't/can't stop him.

I'm that guy in unfamiliar company, though nowhere near to the extent of one friend. My mate and a lass he knew were in town with this friend and he just walked beside them awkwardly, until they passed a chippy and he just said "If you eat in there you'll get herpes". He said that about every shop they then walked past. My mate called it painful, I call it unsuprising.

I pretty much am that friend, except in 1 on 1 conversations. In that case, I'm the one who does most of the talking. Oftentimes, 2 or more of my friends will engage in some conversation that I can't follow. Or when I'm in that same group, I'll talk to one person about something, and the other person in the group will be unable to follow the conversation. The former happens much more often than the latter, however.

Unfortunately, the end result of this is, I pretty much have no friends - at least, none that I hang out with on a once or more a month basis.

That would be me.

It's not that I don't appreciate them talking, usually they do chat of interesting stuff. It's just that I have nothing to say. If I try, I fuck it up, and say something embarrasing. Like when I mixed up a friends girlfriend with another girl with the same name.

I do talk when there's stuff I know about. Even then, I have a tendency to talk too fast for my brain to keep up, and then too I mess up.

I'm not like that when I talk with someone one on one, though. I tend to be quite fine to talk to then.

That goes for me as well. It usually depends in what group I'm in. I like to talk in smaller groups, where I know everyone pretty good, if someone in the group is rather new, I tend to just listen, and speak only if it's a good joke, or if I'm asked.

Just like me. But hey, if i have nothing to say, why should i have to try? Sometimes i talk loads if its something that interests me, or i'm drunk, then you cant shut me up XD
