Do You Know This Weird Type of Behavior?

I noticed a weird kind of behavior on myself and I thought I'd share it with you.

Do you know this weird type of loyalty towards a music band you are listening to? Let's say you now listen to a certain band, this band has released 4 albums up until now and you are now listening to album No.3. Now, suddenly, you want to listen to an other band (whatever the reason), what do you do now? Do you immediately switch Bands and listen to this certain song? And than maybe switch back? Maybe even switch bands completely and listen to the albums of the other band? Or do you do what I do which is, completely listening through all remaining songs and THEN switching to the other band that you'd like to listen to.

I know this makes no sense at all. But this is the kind of feeling of "responsibility" towards the band that I feel sometimes, like: "I started listening to them now, I owe them to listen to their songs until the end."

So, do you know this weird type of behavior? Am I just nuts? Do you maybe have other weird habits, or types of behavior, that you'd like to share? Then please, comment on this thread! :)

It sounds to me like OCD. Or a desire to not ruin the one band flow you've got going. I happen to create playlist in my head as I'm listening to a song and I have to listen to that list in order. But I do feel bad when I change the song from some one who has passed on (ie, Kurt Cobain in Nirvana) to, idk, Ke$ha. It makes me feel disrespectful. : /

I think it is some kind of a band flow, but with a bit more, I don't know, devotion? When you listen to your playlist and you suddenly want to listen to another song, do you listen to this other song instead of your playlist? And when you do, do you feel bad? You know, not really bad, but do you get that weird feeling of knowing that you are disturbing your flow just for one song?

I see what you mean. I think I had that one, too.

I don't like to listen to the same band for more then 3 songs in row. It does change on the length of the songs. I normally choose 3-4 bands and mix all the songs into one playlist. If I do really want to listen to this one song I let the current song finish unless it just started then I change to the song. After I finish it I get back to where I left off from.

If I absolutely must I will continue the initial playlist, write down what I want to listen to afterward (because I have bad memory), and wait to do so. It mostly bothers me when songs transition into each other or if they fit the mood I'm in and something from left field pops into my head. Then I feel like I've disturbed something.

I'm like that too and I never randomise tracks either.

I'm even worse with games. Once started I cannot start another game until I'm done. My husband has what seems to me a plethora of unfinished games and he just plays whatever he feels like playing. Him doing that makes me nuts.

I also prefer to record TV shows and watch whole series instead of weekly installments.

Okay, okay I'm totally nuts.

That is a bit weird. I was just listening to Ensiferum, then fancied some Korpiklaani so I switched over. Within 30 seconds I come onto the forum and see this topic.

So, do you feel guilty about switching? :D

Yup, that's pretty hardcore, especially when I think about how long you have to wait to watch a good show. I mean, let's say you like "How I met your mother", you have to wait at least 24 weeks, that's almost half a year, to watch a new season of a good sitcom. I respect your patience!

Weird behaviors? Well, if the volume isn't at an even number then I go batshit insane...
I heard that one before, a couple of people I know have the same problem.

Nah, you've just gotta go with the flow of it. If it's time to switch you should embrace it rather than fight it.

I don't do that with music, but I do it with other things.
When it comes to wiping my computer's hard drive, I somehow always find room to back up Age of Empires 2 and all my saved games. I deleted them once, felt incredibly guilty sicce it was, in my opinion, the best game to ever come out of the now defunct Ensemble Studios. Fortunately, I found a back-up and still play it today. I;m still playing a particular saved game that has lasted since summer 2001.

I think it's just personal preference. I don't listen to or even have complete albums of bands I like. When I listen to music, it's usually a random playlist or select songs that I want to listen to.

I don't do anything like that, I just got a folder with the music I like in it.

Slap it in a playlist, hit shuffle and repeat and i'm set!

I have a similar feeling on occasion, but it's not loyalty.

Music to me is thematic, it flows and progresses. Like a good book, I'm not going change books when I've gotten wrapped up in the one I'm currently reading.

However this only applies to single volumes, not entire serials.

Whenever I do switch (whether it be games, books or what have you) I feel as though something is lost in the transition, my mindset is fixed on one and consequently both items suffer for it.

I switch albums whenever I feel like it. Sometimes I'll listen to the same album three times in a row. Sometimes I'll listen to one song and then put something else on.

It's all down to the mood I'm in. Also the musician/album. Some albums are a cohesive whole, some are loaded with filler.

I have over 7,000 songs from different artists and I listen to them on shuffle. I have no desire to listen to any of them in any order.

OCD thread eh?
Well, i guess i've done that a little.
Sort of on topic, i often play through games so thoroughly that i often end up carrying around a maniacal amount of items.
Last time i played through Stalker SoC i had so many guns neatly stuffed in a box in the wild territory i dreaded accidentally clicking something i need in my inventory which would make it go into the box and having to meticulously fish it out.
I think i had around seven thousand rounds of regular 5.56 ammo and like 60 scientific medkits in the box near the red forest entrance amongst other shit like half a dozen suits and some more guns.

Kinda know what you are talking about, I got a similar thing with Gothic 1, 2 and the addon.

Some of you have hardcore quirks, I like it! :D
